OSX 10.9 on ESXi 5.5 U1

Hi everyone. Been reading this forum for a couple weeks and the guides are great. Thank you!

I'm trying to setup and OSX server 10.9.2 on a VMware host:

HP ProLiant ML350 G5

HP-ESXi-5.5.0-Update1-iso-5.73.21

Here's what I've done:

Verified a scratch location with :  vim-cmd hostsvc/advopt/view ScratchConfig.CurrentScratchLocation

There is one :)

uploaded unlocker 1.3 to store/esxi

did chmod + and ran ./install.sh  and rebooted the host

I created my dmg and put it up on my datastore like this:

Created my vm, mounted the dmg and booted, partitioned the disk as recommended

Now I click on Reinstall OS X and get "Could not find installation information for this machine. Contact AppleCare" :

Does anyone have a suggestion as to what to try next?

Seems like the unlocker isn't working as it's function is to disable that hardware check correct?

Thank you all for your time.

Luke,

I am sure I have had OS X running on an ML350 G5, but never had the sort of error message you are getting, firstly is VT-x enabled on your ML350, it is not on by default, you may want to check your processor does support hardware virtualisation. Second is the OS X Mavericks you are converting to dmg a download from the Mac App Store.

Finally you have created a scratch file location on persistent storage i.e. somewhere on your ESXi Datastore and when the unlocker is installed you get an OS X folder under your scratch location, this indicates the unlocker has installed and the local.sh script is being run at boot.

Never seen that before. The unlocker has worked because it has booted to the OS X installer app. It is likely something to do with how the installation media was built.

I figured it out! This error was happening during a request to http://osrecovery.apple.com was getting stopped by our web filter (proxy, required authentication)

I added the ip address to the exceptions list and bingo!

Thank you for your suggestions. I don't know why, but for some reason they made me think to check the web filter (smoothwall)

Glad you got it sorted. I found this on Apple site for reference. http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5286
