kday
I just finally bit the bullet and purchased my Digital Rebel XTi. I've been trying to decide what I wanted to buy for months, and I finally made my decision. I was about to get a Nikon D80, but then I decided it is a bit out of my price range. If I could afford the extra few hundred bucks or so, I would have probably gone with the Nikon. For my uses (hobby), the Digital Rebel should suit me well. My final purchase came out to be $898 for the Camera, standard Canon EF-S kit lens, 2 GB compact flash, card reader (came with the package), 3 piece filter kit, Titianium Digital Optics .45x wide angle lens, Aluminum hard case, soft carrying case, tripod, mini tripod, and lens cleaning kit. The standard kit lens looks and feels like a piece of {censored}, so that will probably be the first thing I replace. I would have bought one of those kits that came with multiple lens, but the lenses most of them came with seemed to be cheap, crappy lenses that were even worse than the standard kit lens. Anyone have any recommendations on a fast, affordable lens (around or less than $300)? Canon seems to have the best glass, but at the same time, they also seem to be twice as much as the comparable Sigma lenses. I was thinking I was going to use an old 35mm lens, but I read the cropping is a bit different from a digital lens. Researching lenses is quite hard. Fossie
I have the 350D (Rebel XT). Just a piece of advice, get a little squeezy blower to clean the CMOS. Mine is constantly getting dust on it and making annoying splodges on my photos. Im still using the included 18-55 lens, but im looking at getting a 75-200 (or 300) to go with it. Its a great camera, especially because I went from using a Canon Powershot s30.

I can't believe so many people fall for this {censored}. Also, you are not going to find the XTI (body only) anywhere for under $700. If you do, I can assure you that it is a scam. Before buying ANYTHING online, do your research and make sure the numbers sound reasonable.
