iProCr4ftr
Hello, Is there a way to get AMD Cool 'n' Quiet/auto downclocking working on an OS X Mavericks hackintosh? This is because I do not want my Hackintosh to drain electricity by running at its max clock speed all of the time. I am running a M5A78L-M LX3 motherboard, with an AMD Phenom II X4. Many thanks
zerking
Seems like an impossible mission to achieve! Pls, forget it cuz it will never happen unless Apple turns to use AMD Processor for its product then there'll be a chance.
Saerith
I was bothered with My CPU running on high temps (55c) (having stock cooler now) on Mavericks and running pretty low(38c) on Windows. I had no idea what it could be, as CPU was pretty much 98-99% idle at that time. Then I ran into this thread and everything seems to be clear now. Is there any way to overcome this problem? Like patching kernel or doing something else? Thanks!
themacmeister
I have Cool&Quiet disabled in BIOS, and use smart-Q-Fan in BIOS to set the start/max temps for CPU fan. It was running at 3380rpm at all times (and noisy) until I did this. Now Fan starts at about 940rpm, and averages at about 1400 under load. Temps are higher, but well within limits (~35c at idle in a warm room). I have a stock heatsink with newly applied Arctic Silver 5 thermal compound. PS. There is a kernel out there with power management (need to run a pstate program to set it tho). Search for this name - AMD_Kernel_And_PM_REL1.zip Best of luck.
