This might be a stupid question, but I'm a newbie at hackintosh building :). But how exactly do you determine if QE/CI is enabled in 10.10?

I do NOT get the ripple-effect when adding widgets in dashboard, but I think that they might have removed that feature in 10.10. I do get translucent menu bar though. Other things I've heard is that the screen saver previews are showing and that you can move pieces in the Chess game (which I can). Does this mean QE/CI is enabled even though the "dashboard test" says it's not?

how exactly do you determine if QE/CI is enabled in 10.10?

Type in terminal:

sudo -s

then enter your password.

Next this:

defaults read /Library/Preferences/com.apple.windowserver GLCompositor

If you'll get:

{
    tileHeight = 256;
    tileWidth = 256;
}

it's enabled. Command works in 10.8.5, should work in 10.10 as well

Thank Wayang-NT :)

I'm guessing you're missing a command there? All "sudo -s" does it open a new shell with root priviliges, it doesn't execute anything.

I'm sorry, too much beer I guess ;)

Edited my previous post. Works on 10.10 (tested).

Hi guys.

Is there any new info on r7 and r9 cards?

Do they worko OOB now in new DP?

OSX86 wiki has only one 260x listed, working with injecting ID, but no multiple monitors tested.

I have a  fully working ati hd 5770 card  in yosemite newest DP, but I'm looking to upgrade my VGA with r7 or r9 card. I need fully working card (with dual display working), so please post if you have any new info :)

Thanks

Hawaii and Bonaire kexts are full of bugs. I've Just sold my 260X and bought 750Ti instead. Maxwell drivers are buggy for now but developing quickly - 1-2 months more to wait but for now I'm getting almost full QE CI with dual monitor configuration

I'm using a 290X and I must say it's not THAT bad. I only use a single monitor (I heard some people got 2 monitors working recently), but it's basically bug-free. The worst one yet is that flash video (ie youtube, facebook videos and such) seems to have a 50/50 chance to show scrambled content - reload and it's usually fine. Not sure if it's a flash bug or video decoding bug, but I haven't seen it in places like VLC or similar. I can play games at very good framerates for hours at a time with no hiccups or crashes. I've had an occational crash when gaming (maybe 1 per month), but I'm not sure if that's because of the GPU, the Yosemite beta, my hackintosh configuration or what the real issue is. Anyway, I feel the hawaii drivers are very usable already.

Almoust all Ati cards had some issues at first. I had 2600, 3850 and now 5670, had some dual display issues with all of them.

I think I will wait a bit more. Final DP is set for September 29., and GM is set for October 10.

Maybe they bring better drivers for new R9 and R7 radeon cards. Fully working card and HDMI+ DVI support is a must for me.

If it doesnt get better, I'll buy nvidia after more then 10 years :D

NVidia drivers are full of bugs as well. Read our forum.

As I can see, people mostly recommend nvidia cards for hackintosh builds. Also I've made some hackintosh builds with nvidia GPUs.

I know they are not bug free, but most of the have less hassle to deal with, and multidisplay working OOB.

With onboard graphics (Intel HD4600) enabled in the BIOS (and VRAM for the onboard set to the lowest value for it 32MB) I have three monitors working all plugged into my R9 290, a 30" via DP and two 23" via DVI. No special stuff in Clover other than injecting the 290X dev-id to avoid modifying kexts. With this approach my system (Asrock H87 Fatal1ty motherboard + i5 4670) boots blind until OS X starts to draw the desktop which makes changing BIOS settings or selecting other Clover settings difficult, need to plug one of the monitors into the onboard to change settings. For me having one of the 23" monitors plugged into the onboard permanently is functionally the same as having all on the 290 and allows me to see the entire boot process.

Finally got my R290X working with multiple displays with Yosemite on my system (P8Z68-V). The trick on my end was to boot from the iGP (HD3000) and disable the ATI Inject in clover - I kept Intel inject though.  I'm driving a 4k@60hz display with the DP and HDMI & DVI for 1080p. I boot the iGP on the TV for now ;)

I'm really happy with the end results and sleep works  like a charm. ioreg report Baladi w/ 6 entries and the the standard benchmarks look good.

Hope it helps someone... I've been battling with this for a couple of days ;)

Has anyone been able to make an R9 285 work? I was able to boot and it was partially functional but the screen had a flicker unless I unplugged and then re-plugged the monitor in.

Sapphire R9 285's primary DP works. Secondary DP requires unplug-replug. HDMI/DVI do not work.

No patch applied.

- edit 2014/11/21

I found the problem is caused by ga-b75-d3v bios.

After changing the mb, all ports work.
