crynof
Hi! I installed Mavericks, Windows 8.1 and Ubuntu 13.10 in my laptop. Are 3 primary partitions: 40gb Mavericks HFS+ 170gb Windows 8.1 NTFS 40gb Ubuntu 13.10 EXT3 (Before i tried with ext4 and same problem) After to install all SO, i return to Mavericks and reinstalled Chameleon with myhack. The problem its that not appears Ubuntu boot option on chameleon, only Mavericks and Windows. Anyone knows how to fix that problem?? Thanks you Greetings!! MacUser2525
If the Ubuntu was installed with its default option of putting the Grub bootloader in the MBR of the drive then the partition which contains it will/may not be seen as bootable. Grub will have been overwritten when you did the MyHack install of Chameleon, you get the option when installing Ubuntu to install Grub onto the / partition containing the Linux install. Perhaps a fresh install using the Advanced or manual option for the drive partitioning would be in order it is there you get the option to install Grub onto the partition with the Linux instead of MBR of the drive. This is what I had to do this past week when the upgrade from 13.10 to 14.04 left me with unbootable Linux install due to a bug in Grub which seems to not be present when doing fresh install, on my laptop with a triple boot Mavericks, Win 7 and the already mentioned 14.04. Now you will get warning telling you that installing to partition may not work ignore that it seems to go fine or did for me.
crynof
Thanks MacUser2525, in fact, i installed a fresh ubuntu with manually partitioning on /dev/sda3 (primary), and the bootloader on /dev/sda3 with mount point "/". I suppose that MBR it was not rewrite, because when i finish to install ubuntu, the chameleon bootloader run perfectly. I dont know what is the problem, in all places says that the grub should be installed on the same partition of Ubuntu with mount point /,. and that is i do. Seems you already done it correctly then I would give re-installing the Chameleon on it a try to see if it will pick up the newly installed boot loader in the Ubuntu / directory.
