I've been trying to get mountain lion running on my new build but have been running into some problems,  I finally got my usb installer "working" but am unable to get the software mounted to my ssd.  I run the usb installer, choose my ssd as the destination, the installer runs all the way to the end and even says "install was a success!".  But when I restart, my ssd apears to be blank, and I'm unable to boot off of it.  I'm not sure what i'm doing wrong but any help would be very much appreciated.

Thanks

I've used a combo of these two guides

  • 3 weeks later...

I used the Hackistaller method, after the first installation, reboot on USB again, Do not let the new OS to reboot, run the hackistaller to treat the bootloader and kexts on the new drive. I only noticed that all kexts need to be in /System/Library/Extensions, nothing in /Extra. I used kext Utility to fix the kext installation. System could not boot on new mac untill all kexts installed. Got panic, and had to boot with -v -x in safe mode to fix the kexts. Now everything is ok on EP45 and EP43.. see my post in hackinstaller
