firejeep
Hello all i have been working on getting my hp Touchsmart 506IQ that has the nVidia 9300m gs up and running.. i can get it up without any of the NVDA kext files but if i have them in there i get the black screen. i can VNC into it and i do see that the card is using the GForceTesla.kext and the NVDAResmonTesla.kext along with AppleHWSensor.kext and AppleMCCSControl.kext (using System Info app). could someone point me in the right direction. things i have tried but not limited to. i have added the DID to the geforce and nvda kext i have added the hex to the device props flag in the boot plist i have tried injectors I have not worked with the DSDT as i am not that good with it yet and need to look into it more
aww
Asus GeForce 9300M GS: Chipset Model: Asus GeForce 9300M GS Type: GPU Bus: PCIe Slot: Slot-1 PCIe Lane Width: x16 VRAM (Total): 256 MB Vendor: NVIDIA (0x10de) Device ID: 0x06e9 Revision ID: 0x00a1 ROM Revision: 62.98.76.00.01 Displays: Display: Resolution: 1024 x 768 Pixel Depth: 32-Bit Color (ARGB8888) Main Display: Yes Mirror: Off Online: Yes if the above, were displayed on a VNC session, you are very close to make it work. it appears, it got the dev id ok, mean main kexts were loaded, but frame buffer was not loaded. from experiences, not actual knowledge, i can mix fb kext from 10.8 kext with 10.10 kext. there are lot of kexts pack for you graphics in difference site, down number of it , and try each fb kext from it. (there people here, don't think it will work, i prove to myself i can use 8.0.61 fb with 10.0.16 kext for appleintelhdgraphics to get qe/ci and full resolution on yosemite) also from experience, i have use 10.8 patched kext for appleintelhdgraphics to get fully function graphics from 10.9.0 to 10.9.4 (still using it). you should also try, 9300 patched kext from 10.8. before try anything else, try use disk utility to repair permissions and reboot from vnc session? that was the last step i make 8.0.61 to load with 10.0.16 kext and get it working. aww
from Utility you can search message, see AGPM show unknown platform or id Vendor: NVIDIA (0x10de) Device ID: 0x06e9, if id was detected, you may try to install fb kext only, (without other kexts), if it load to desktop with full resolution, no qe/ci. You got the working fb.
firejeep
ok so this is where i stand. i have gotten almost everything to work. but still black screen. when i VNC in i can see that i have full res and that the correct kext files are being used. but the issue stands that the output is not being put to the display. it seems that it is trying to put it to an external port (VGA, DVI, HDMI) but being this is an all in one it does not have any of them. i was about to get something on the screen with "NVdarwin" but it was the rainbow lines so i would take it that it misread the card. if i were to use NVEnabler the probe fails at the end. i am going to swap hdds and put a win os and and see if i cant extract the nvcap and use boot injection
aww
It good news, if you see full resolution on VNC session, can list version of both fb and qe/ci kexts ( finder get info will list lt) goto About this mac, and system report, software, extensions ( need to wait 1 minutes or 2) sort it by loaded Yes/No, see what kext were loaded. aww
If you FB were load and QE/CI kext also loaded, means QE/CI need patched. try this FB with current QECI kexts (if you dev id already in it's plist). remember to use disk utility to repair permissions before reboot.
