VMware 9 running OS X Mavericks - grey logo instant reboot

hi,

I am trying go get the Virtual Machine of OS X Mavericks to run on my computer.

I think, but I am actually not so sure anymore, that my computer meets the minimum requirements.

Every thime I try to run the image I get to the grey apple logo and then it seems to restart again. I have followed all of the instructions in the youtube videos that I could find and read some other howtos.
I did use the VMware Unlocker. Even though this fixed the problem for others, it didn’t work for me.
Hardware Virtualization is turned on. I even checked it using the the Intel Prozessors ID Utility.

You can find my hardwarespecs in the attachment “CORE-PC.txt”

I am running VMware Workstation 9.0.2 build-1031769 on Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit SP1

I have also attached the log-file from vmware. I searched for “error”s in it … found some but don’t know that to do with it … googled it – couldn’t find anything usefull.

Again – a short description of my problem:
I press “Power on this virtual machine”, I get a black screen. After a while I get the grey vmware logo on the gray screen. Then I see something written on the top left corner. It says "Attempting to start up from: EFI VMware Virtual SCSI Hard Drive (0.0)..." (it doesn't say "unsuccessful") googled it, tried to remote “firmware=efi” from the vmx file – dunno why I did that – didn’t help either.
After that I get the grey screen with the grey apple logo without the spinning wheel. 1 to max 2 Seconds later it all restarts again. Black screen, vmware screen, grey apple logo screen, black screen, vmware screen, grey apple logo screen and so on

I have also tried some tutorials using VirtualBox and iAtkos, Hazard and at least 2 other methods.

OSX 10.6.2 works perfectly using VirtualBox. Didn’t try it in VMWare. As soon as I switch to 10.8 or newer I get these problems with Vmware and VirtualBox alike.

Please help me …

kind regards
Bernhard

P.S.: English is not my native language, so I hope I described everything good enough

Bernhard,

Processor looks fine, supports VT-x, make sure it is enabled in BIOS, have you used Donk's Unlocker v1.2.0 or 1.3.0, where have you got your OS X image from, have a look at the following thread, link below, it should have all the information you should and relevant links. You might want to either upgrade to Workstation 10.0.1 or try Player 6.0.1 as they have native support for Mavericks. Finally if you want to be sure your OS X Mavericks is vanilla, then purchase Snow Leopard from the Apple Store and once installed in VMware download the Mavericks install from the App Store for free.

Hi and thx for the fast reply MSok.

Took me some time to try everything possible.

I installed OSX 10.6.0 with a retail Disk and upgraded it to 10.6.8 using the App Store. Everything worked fine.

But I need OSX 10.9 so I cloned the 10.6.8 VM and tried further.

First Clone: Free Apple Mavericks Upgrade. Didn't work. I am back to the original Problem but this time it says "Attempting to start up from: -> Mac OS X". Then it switches to the grey apple logo and restarts instantly.

Second Clone: Downloaded the Apple Mavericks Upgrade. Converted the DMG File to ISO File using the Terminal. New Problem.

Before getting to the apple logo It says

Attempting to start up from:

-> EFI VMware Virtual SATA Hard Drive (0.0) ... unsuccessful.

-> EFI VMware Virtual SATA CDROM Drive (1.0) ... unsuccessful.

-> EFI Network ...

After that I get to a Boot-Menu kinda thingy - tried a lot - didn't work ....

Third Clone: Downloaded the Apple Mavericks Upgrade. Converted the DMG File to bootable DMG File using the Tool you described in the linked Thread.
Same problem as above (Second Clone)

And I am using the latest unlocker (unlock-all-v130) and I have updated VmWorkstation to 10.0.1 :)
