Hey guys, thanks for the awesome job, this version of Voodoohda is pretty good and is on par with AppleHDA's sound quality.  The problem that i have is that HDMI is detected but not working (already tried changing the sampling rates in the Midi setup but nothing works).

Also tried adding manually the HDMI audio device (Nvidia GTX 780m) into the plist file along with the Alc892 audio device but it doesn't change anything ?

Attached the result of the get dump file and my codec-dump from linux, can anyone give me a hint or a hand on this ?

BTW: I have an intel HD 4600 with a GTX 780m (optimus).

Basically, i already use alc662 kext, but for new challenge.. i'll try to use this kext, just to know how far for this build.

hope it will more good than earlier. Nice works and thanks for Slice and Andi.

Odd... I have Intel HD4000 on my laptop.

No issues in my case with VoodooHDA 2.8.5

I am attempting to use the 2.8.5 release to facilitate encoded AC3 over S/PDIF optical with my ALC898, but when I switch the output to encoded, and feed encoded audio over the output using AC3Jack, the cable does not light up. It does light up if I switch the signal to PCM, but does not work with my receiving device. If I then switch the output back to encoded AC3, and switch the device to encoded audio in Audio MIDI Setup, I get a KP and instant reboot.

EDIT: I forgot to mention, the getdump utility included simply emits "Hello, World!"

EDIT 2: I noticed that the AppleHDA mod topic for Mountain Lion says that ALC 892 and 898 are unsupported for S/PDIF encoding. My ALC898 is capable of sending encoded audio to my receiver from Windows, though. Too bad I can't debug that.

It almost works fine with my laptop (codec is ALC292).

But Internal Speakers are not working after wakeup from sleep.

Headphones and mic are ok.

I already tried to reload(kextunload/kextload) VoodooHDA.kext but no sound from speakers.

How can I fix it?

Edit: Solved

  • 2 weeks later...

Sorry to hijack the post Andy,

Do you think it's possible to got it with ALC1150 and Snow Leopard ?

Sincerely,

Nick

PS : If you need dumps or anything, you can ask me.

You should be able to recompile it under 10.6 with the xcode in question.

It should work.

Change SDK and compiler and build ;)

I used VoodooHDA in Snow Leopard many years.

ALC1150 is an ordinary HDA sound. VoodooHDA should work for all ordinary HDA sound cards.

Your problem with AppleHDA
for ALC1150 is not to have
a version for Snow?

Tried this with my Intel HDA on my Lenovo G500, got rid of the bass/static issues with the last version of VoodooHDA (except slight, almost unnoticeable crackle that appears randomly, might be a result of my settings and not this) Thanks for the impressive work!

Installed Mavericks on a Samsung E257 laptop (ALC 269 codec AFAIK).

Installed the latest Voodohda from this thread and now crackling is nearly gone. When i use MplayerX to show a movie (xvid) i have a clear picture and sound as long as i move the mouse. As soon as i stop moving the mouse, video and audio replay starts to stutter and get's in kind of a 'slow motion' mode.

Perhaps a hint for the developer(s)...

Ohh and of course: Thanx for your work :-)

It looks like a HPET error for me. Check your DSDT, and patch the HPET section.

  • 2 weeks later...

there is an issue with  the value IOPCIClassMatch 0x04030000&0xffff0000 in the info.plist it causes a kernel panic at boot.

the value from slices 2.8.4 works. is there a reason for the value change?

I had a similar issue only I didn't have a kernel panic (I have applehdadisabler so that's probably why).  When I used the default IOPCIClassMatch I got a greyed out sound icon next to the clock.  When I changed to IOPCIMatch [my device id] everything works fine.

Installing on my Dell XPS 12 with the ALC668 chipset and it worked for enabling the speakers for audio. When i plug in headphones it says Headphones (Back Left). There is no sound output to the headphones. Anyway to fix this?
