tommyhollander
TUTORIAL: Easy step by step guide for beginners: Hackintosh PRO i7 4930K, GTX 770 For 6 months I am (re-)searching for (the best) one, complete, easy, step by step tutorial (for a firsttimer) to install Mavericks 10.9.2For a professionally, fully functioning, fast, stable video editing rig (with powermanagement) I’ve been reading several websites, and only have read issues, things that don’t work. Before I purchase this (or quite similar) hardware, I prefer to know it will work for sure, and I will be able to install OSX (Because otherwise it's useless for me) i7 4930K, Rampage IV extreme (or something 'similar' X79 if that is more easy), GTX770 4GbSSD 840, Corsair Vengeance Pro 4x8GB DDR3 1866 C, TL-WDN4800 450Mbps PCI-E,Noctua NH-D14 SE2011, Noctua NF-P12, 120mm, and more Drives, case, etc I just subscribed to this site, so I am not allowed to react on other threads (yet) EDIT: A guide like this, only updated with current hardware: http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/280756-guide-the-all-in-one-guide-to-vanilla-os-x-including-chameleon-dsdt-for-beginners-updated-for-mavericks/

Rampage Dev
I have the same board as you and support all LGA 2011 boards. Use my install guide here: http://rampagedev.wordpress.com/os-x-10-8-mountain-lion/ And you will be booting with: -v npci=0x2000 cpus=1 GraphicsEnabler=No Then use my x79 DMG found here for post install: http://rampagedev.wordpress.com/dsdt-downloads/asus-x79/ Its that simple
tommyhollander
Thanks Andrew! (Of course) I've already seen and read your link(s), but in the 500+ posts below your link still many people have issues. (as in other threads:http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/295519-black-screen-fresh-install-109-on-asus-rampage-iv-extreme-w-i7-4930k/page-3(Probably) they did something wrong, but it will be my first time as well. I recently tried to install kubuntu on an old netbook, but because the graphics wasn't recognized I got a black screen. I needed to change something in the terminal, but as the screen was black, I didn't know how to get access. My point is: I didn't even succeed with something simple as that.If a store will build this configuration (and put Windows trial on a separate disk) your links above is all I need to get OSX 10.9.2 fully functioning? The store will put Bios on UEFI to optimized defaults and SSD to AHCI mode (whatever that means)- I can choose between Myhack and Clover, right? So I will just start at Section 2: UEFI Clover Install Method, on my current Mac pro. From "Part 3: BIOS Settings" I'll do on my new i7 4930K, clean system, right? - You say 'as simple as that', so I don't need to do anything else? ( such as kernels, DSDT ? SSDT ? Kext? etc ) In case I don't manage myself in the end, you do have premium support (so I pay, and you fix it ;-) right? Thanks!
Rampage Dev
You failed to read my whole post.
Rampage Dev
You use the dmg for post install. I do have tech support and you can fill out the forum if you want to go that route via the blog.
tommyhollander
My apologies for Failing. I don't know what comments of mine you are referring to (or maybe I failed completely), but in case it was this: "so I don't need to do anything else? ( such as kernels, DSDT ? SSDT ? Kext? etc )" I meant, besides the explanation from "how to use the DMG" http://rampagedev.wordpress.com/dsdt-downloads/how-to-install-dsdt/ Anyway this is what I'm afraid of: that I get the hardware, and get stuck, and get answers like: You did something wrong. I have read so many unresolved posts online, with similar hardware. Issues, freezes, extremely slow configuration, etc People that are struggling for months, and in the end just install Windows. That's not an option for me. So my other (stupid beginners) question remains as well, so perhaps somebody else (less experienced, and busy) can answer this? - I can choose between myHack and Clover, right? So I will just start at Section 2: UEFI Clover Install Method, on my current Mac pro to create the flash drive. - From "Part 3: BIOS Settings" I'll do on my new i7 4930K, clean system, right? Thanks! Rampage Dev
If your windows is Uefi use clover.
tommyhollander
The store would install a trial version of Windows on a separate disk (just for testing the system). When I start to install OSX, I will remove that Windows disk and install OSX on a different SSD I was planning to tell the store to:1. update the motherboard BIOS to the latest version2. "When installing Windows on a main board with UEFI BIOS make sure to install it Legacy mode and do not install Win7 UEFI."Please let me know, what I should tell them , so the OSX part goes as easy as possible. So is this final remark, not necessary, or if they do, can I still use Clover? Rampage Dev
Reset the bios to default and the Csm mode on auto then install with myhack.
tommyhollander
Thanks Rampage Dev, but to be sure: I still need to inform the store. (I didn't order yet)So If it's better they do not install Windows, or if it's better they do not update the BIOS, I can tell them.Sorry for the inconvenience, thanks
