sharky9
Hi everyone, wanting to buy a MS or Logitech wireless mouse for my Hackintosh but wanted to see if they are okay to use because of the 'hack' nature of this OS....or am I begging for kernel panics with whatever driver the manufacturer provides? Thanks!
XLR
If it works on a mac - it works on a hack.
fantomas
hi because of the 'hack' nature of this OS... it's just a caricatured point of view If it works on a mac - it works on a hack. a clear statement
sharky9
haha, okay - but I wouldn't totally agree with that last statement. A powerbook will go to sleep when you shut the lid like most Windows laptops - mine won't come back unless I power it back up; and it only seems to get about 90 minutes out of fully-charged battery before it's drained again....power management definitely isn't working right on this hack yet. Gringo Vermelho
A compatible, working and correctly configured PC laptop running OS X will go to sleep when you shut the lid. You are changing the subject matter in order to sustain an argument. That's just wrong. When XLR said "If it works on a mac, it will work on a hack" he meant peripherals, stuff that that you plug in, because that's what you asked about in the first post. It doesn't mean that if power management works in OS X on a computer built and designed by Apple, it will work on a Hewlett Packard running OS X.
Allan
For me the best option is buy a Magic Mouse. If your Notebook have bluetooth, works great.
sharky9
Actually Gringo, don't mean to burst your bubble here but you are sooooooooooooooooo wrong in your bad assumption of me "wanting to sustain an argument" lol. I only put that fragment in here to hope that someone would have read it and then posted a link to a URL on here that would say something like "click here to read and fix your sleep and power management issues on your current configuration". Once I get that information, this site will have a complete start-to-finish guide on installing OSX on a current-day Lenovo z710 machine, but until I have that information, the guide would be incomplete. Gringo: I'll take "Bad Assumptions" for $1000 Alex.......<audible sounds> DAILY DOUBLE ;-) All@n, I bought the Logitech Performance MX today - I'm a photographer who edits a LOT of photos and need the full-sized mice that are contoured to the hand. Thanks for the suggestion anyway ;-)
Gringo Vermelho
lol funny guy.. well okay. Let me rephrase: You would totally agree with that last statement if you were to take it in the context that it was put forward. Power management on laptops is notoriously difficult. On Desktops you can do without it - laptops need it. I'd look in the notebook and netbook sub forums for inspiration.
