First Hackintosh build - Advice needed

Hello All,

I planning on building my first hackintosh with the following components:

MB : Gigabyte GA-Z87X-UD5H

CPU : Intel Core i7-4771 3.5Ghz

CPU Cooler : Stock Intel Cooler or Corsair Hydro H60

GPU : onboard GPU HD 4600 or ASUS GeForce GTX660-DC2OCPH-2GD5

SSD : Samsung 840 EVO 120GB (x2 for dual boot Windows 8.1)

HD : WD Green 2TB + 2 x 1TB Samsung HD (Raid 1)

Case : Corsair Graphite Series 230T Black Solid

Memory : 32GB Corsair Vengeance (4 x 8GB) CMZ16GX3M2A1600C10

PSU : Corsair CS750M

Bluray Writer : LG Internal Bluray Writer 16x, SATA (BH16NS40.AUAU10B)

My questions:

- will this run OS X Mavericks (without DSDT) or OS X Mountain Lion ?

- if I do not use GTX660 (do not install it) but only iGPU HD 4600, will this work for HDMI, DVI and DP connection ? (a lot of mixed messages in different forums on this)

- if I disable iGPU HD 4600 and only use the GTX660, will both DVI and HDMI and DP work ?

- will audio (from the motherboard) work out of the box ?

- will Bluray Writer work out of the box ?

- will both lan ports work ?

- will USB 3.0 work on all ports ?

- is hardware raid 1 supported in OS X Mavericks using the Z87 SATA controller on the MB ?

Any advice/feedback is welcome as I am a newbie on building a hackintosh machine.

Regards,

Kris

My questions:

OS X Mavericks and use Clover to do DSDT fixes on the fly.

Probably yes.

- will audio (from the motherboard) work out of the box ?

Never out of box. Always custom drivers.

- will Bluray Writer work out of the box ?

Dunno

- will both lan ports work ?

You provided no info.

- will USB 3.0 work on all ports ?

Some efforts needed

- is hardware raid 1 supported in OS X Mavericks using the Z87 SATA controller on the MB ?

Dunno

Any advice/feedback is welcome as I am a newbie on building a hackintosh machine.

Hello, thx for the feedback so far.

The Lan ports are Intel Gigabit ports Intel i217v and Intel i210AT

Sound is ALC898.

For the USB 3.0 ports is there a kext needed to make this work or something else ?

I also read somewhere there are issues with WD Green disks, anybody any clue what the problem is ?

I choose my components based on comments from different sites saying these would all work without many problems, some finetuning and troubleshooting is always necessary.

I just want to make sure I can use al my hardware in OS X as I still have to buy everything.

I did some other hackintoshes in the past but all on portables where components are what they are, you cannot change them. And my experience is there are always some very anoying things not working and no solution possible so I want to avoid that making sure everything works this time.

Do you have any advice on equivalent components that work for sure providing the same functionality ?

Regards,

Kris

I have no experience with Intel LAN. May be it work. I just don't know. I have Realtek LAN 8168F and sure it works, not out of box, other driver needed.

Same about all other hardware.

Just for sound I am sure 99% that it will not work out of box. Some efforts needed in any case.

This is hackintosh. Anyway efforts needed. You must be ready to work to do all working.
