General Patched Kernel Question and VMWare based AMD Hackintosh

Hi,

I'm going to attempt installation of 10.9 inside VMWare on an AMD laptop.

Firstly, before asking for help, I have one major doubt.

All AMD piledriver CPU's have all the instruction sets present on Intel Sandy Bridge CPU's, inclusing SSE4.1, SSE4.2, AVX, and SSSE3.

Why do I still need a patched kernel to run OS X 10.9 on an AMD CPU? Does the kernel check the CPUID string before booting? If so, will merely fooling the kernel by bypassing the CPUID string check make mavericks run without any issues, or is there more effort involved in Kernel patching?

Secondly, coming to what I'm attempting. I have the 10.9 dmg from Apple. I'm using MyHack to create a bootable pendrive. I'm using the "BSA R9 Kernel", which is supposed to support SSE4.

My plan is to follow the steps here, http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/294868-guideamd-athlon-x2-x6-with-mavericks-1091/ , but with this updated kernel.

What command line flags do I need to set for it to work? Has anyone tried this before? I'm trying to create a Hackinstosh like the Souldev Team.

Sorry if this post seems like a noob asking to many stupid questions :)

Peace,

Shawn

Okay, so everything seems to be going fine. I have a quad-core A10-5750M, and I've allocated 4GB RAM to the VM. I used the following boot flags,

-v -USBLegacyOff=Yes -cpus=4 -npci=0x2000 -f

Takes an awfull long time to get to the installer part, around 25 minutes, but was glad to see the install screen. The MAJOR problem I now face is getting the mouse to work. The mosue is like drunk and runs all around the place. Really frustrating!!

I managed to open Disk Utility with great difficulty, using Ctrl+F2 and the arrow keys, but then I clicked on something wrong with the mouse and lost everything.

Anyone knows how to get the mouse to work? I gotta start all over again :(

Yes, this is exactly what I'm about to do... to the T.  I'm trying the same OS, on VMware, with an AMD a10 5750m LAPTOP!  I also have a discrete HD 8670m.

I'm just about to try it.  I know this thread is almost dead and the forum doesn't have much life, but maybe this will be helpful to anyone trying to accomplish the same thing (people google, that's how I got here)

IF i can manage to get to an install, and NOT have this mouse issue, I'll post my EXACT specs as reported for i-nex (I'm running linux as my primary os.)

I'm actually DLin it now, and should be in it (to win it) in about an hour.  I am very excited to see this as I have been struggling for almost 2 years at getting just ONE hackintosh working.  I guess AMD cpus really ARE that difficult.
