tempbeta
I have install os x 10.9 in my laptop Dell 14r turbo (Dell SE 7420) with Clover and UEFI + GPT. My ethernet card is Atheros AR8161 and I need help to get it work. Now Network Preferences is blank and ifconfig shows there are just lo0 ,gif0 and stf0 and System Profiler says "This computer does not appear to have any pci ethernet cards installed". I have tried the ALXEthernet.kext then when boot -v the log says: [ALXEthernet] Error:HW is disabled. [ALXEthernet] Error:unable to initialise ALX adapter structure. [ALXEthernet] Error:unable to initialise adapter. I also tried to set Clover DSDT fixLAN then there are "bluetooth PAN" in Network Preferences, however the ethernet still not work thanks in advance for any help . senoirchippy
Unfortunately there is NO way to fix this as of 2014-08-15. I wasted 2 days fiddling with this and I wasted Miezes time (sorry :L) trying to get this to work and it simply won't. The issue seems to be within the BIOS itself. The UEFI seems to control the NIC and it automatically disables it under OS X for some reason. I had to buy a Monoprice USB Ethernet adapter and settle for that.
