Scotty geek
Greetings all. I finally made the decision to go with buying an Apple iMac instead of building one. But I have a question for all you chronic iMac buyers who bought the Core Duo and then bought the NEW core 2 Duo systems. I have the choice to either buy a refurbished 20" Core Duo from apple OR spend 200$ more and get a new core 2 duo. How much better is a Core 2 Duo? not just the obvious processor speed, and Core Duo or Core 2.. but overall performance, screen quality, heat, noise, etc etc etc... Im going to be running FCP on this system so if anyone has any experience on that as well let me know.. Thanks All, Scotty Geek www.geekstreamonline.com
antic
Although there isn't much difference in the performance of the two chips at the moment the core 2 duo is 64bit enabled. This might make quite a difference when 10.5 Leopard is released. So if I were you I would spend that extra 200$
aldimeneira
The Core 2 Duo is 64 bit. Other than that there's not much difference. Your current iMac is just fine. If it didn't run Leopard then maybe you can upgrade your processor... but you will be throwing away a working electronic product.
