Mavericks boot on Asus P8P67 Pro stuck on white screen

Hello.

 

I have an Asus P8P67 Pro motherboard, and I've always followed Andy's guides to setup my hackingtosh with this system using his .PKG. My Graphics Card died the other day and I decided to start fresh with Mavericks on a new drive. I followed Andy's guide for Mavericks, but for some reason I was not able to boot from the USB I created. Frustrated, I thought the problem could be my BIOS version, so I updated that to the latest version and loaded optimized defaults. It did no change anything. Then I decided to try [url="http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/279450-why-insanelymac-does-not-support-tonymacx86/"]#####[/url]. I was then able to install Mavericks, and even update it to 10.9.1 using the [url="http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/279450-why-insanelymac-does-not-support-tonymacx86/"]#####[/url] USB to boot. Once I had the update running, I ran Andy's package to make my Mavericks drive bootable, but I kept getting stuck at the white apple screen after chameleon. I tried different booting flags, including PCIRootUDI= 1 & 2, GraphicsEnabler=Yes & No, -x, and so on with all the combinations. Nothing worked. I reinstalled Mavericks one more time, and added NullCPUPowersManagement to see if it made a difference. It did not. I'm not tech savvy at all, so everything I've been trying is because I read it in some post. Now I don't know what else to. I can't even boot to Mavericks in safe mode. Can someone shade some light on me?

This problem is related to power management ...

Already gave you a support via PM about installing OSX

As I told you before, I never followed the Andy's topic, what I can do is give to you my recommendations, for this you have to forget everything that is on the Andy's topic and only do what I tell you (so that you haven't problems in the future (I'm not trying to belittle the Andy's topic, it should be pretty good ...))

Thanks for your response and your PM, Pimentel. Here's an update on my situation:

 

Before I read your response, I had decided to try a method other than Andy's. This involved using TonyMac's utility for installing Mavericks, and chameleon, chameleon wizard, and kext utility for post-installation. So after I installed Mavericks with TonyMac's utility, I installed chameleon, then ran chameleon wizard to create org.chameleon.boot.plist and SMBios in Extra. I also installed FakeSMC.kext and NullCPUPowerManagement.kext using kext utility. That's all. This method excluded having DSDT.aml, and it worked for me. I can now boot to Mavericks with no booting issues.

 

I do have a few issues though; 1) no sleep. 2) no sound. 3)  Every 10 min or so I heard my CD/DVD drive spinning(?) even though I have no disk in.

 

1) I read in some of your posts (PimentelX86) that you recommended someone to Create a SSDT and to Patch AICPUPM. Not sure what those are for, but I'm guessing they have to do with power management and sleep. I also guess that you can't have NullCPUPowerManagement.kext if you want sleep enabled. I do want sleep enabled, so what should I do? Can you please tell me if I need SSDT and AICPUPM, and why I need them?

 

2) Regarding sound, I read on Toleda's thread that my Asus board's bios version does not support ALC892 kext, so to make it work I have to downgrade my bios to 2xxx. I will work on that and report back to this thread.

 

3) With regards to my CD/DVD drive spinning phantom(ly), I have no idea what's going on. But I hear it every 10 or 15 minutes. Any ideas?

UPDATE: I downgraded my bios to 2xxx and now sound works.

Hello

I recommend that you re-install your system... many problems were caused by tonymac tools... WE DON'T GIVE SUPPORT TO HIS TOOLS, tonymac is a thief that steal things from real developers an make money with this...

Afeter install OSX, install Chameleon: http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/files/download/59-chameleon-22-svn/
Create 2 main files:
*org.chameleon...
*SMbios...

Use Chameleon Wizard for this job

Install FakeSMC, isn't necessary install NullCPUPM, it provide only a generic power management(sleep and get all states work with it is impossible)

You really need SSDT(Sandy Bridger doesn't support by since 10.7.3this SSDT has necessary states) and you only will get nativelly power management if AICPUPM work, this kext care about it...

Sorry for my ignorance, I'm a little bit confused. Here are my questios:

 

1) Can I follow your guide without having to reinstall Mavericks? Can I just delete NullCPUPowerManagement.kext, create SSDT and patch AICPUPM?

 

2) If your answer to #1 is no, then does your method require dsdt.aml? Right now I don't have dsdt.aml. The only way my system booted without any problems is when I did not create dsdt.aml. I really don't know what dsdt.aml or SSDT do, but I've been reading that SSDT has something to do with dsdt.aml.

 

3) How do I know what frequency or multiplier to use in sudo ./ssdtPRGen.sh xx xxxx?

 

Also, I just noticed one thing in Youtube.com: When I try to play a video, the image looks damaged (see attached picture). When I right-click on the video, and select Adobe settings and I uncheck "Enable hardware acceleration" the image looks OK. Do you know why that is? Mavericks seems to support my Graphics card and my org.chameleon... has GE=No.

DSDT isn't necessary now, but it'll be required in soon

Read carefully, i said:

 

After run script you need put your Max Frequence and Max CPU TDP... you have i72600k so you need... like the example:

You have a i7 2600k... So possible commands

sudo ./ssdtPRGen.sh 95 3800

or

sudo ./ssdtPRGen.sh 3800 95

Kepler card has been supported since 10.8.3

No. I only used [url="http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/279450-why-insanelymac-does-not-support-tonymacx86/"]#####[/url] to install Mavericks. After I booted with [url="http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/279450-why-insanelymac-does-not-support-tonymacx86/"]#####[/url], I installed Chameleon bootloader from Insanelymac, then used chameleon wizard to create SMBios & org.chameleon...

 

I did not use any Tonymac tools post-install.

 

Can I still delete NullCPUP and then use Pike's script to create SSDT?

So, this is what I need to do, yes?

 

1) Open terminal

 

2) copy - paste on terminal:

curl -o ssdtPRGen.sh https://raw.github.com/Piker-Alpha/RevoBoot/clang/i386/libsaio/acpi/Tools/ssdtPRGen.sh
chmod +x ssdtPRGen.sh
./ssdtPRGen.sh

3) Still in terminal, copy - paste:

sudo ./ssdtPRGen.sh 95 3800

4) Patch AICPUPM in terminal

copy-paste:

cd ~/Downloads/AICPMPatch
copy-paste:
perl AICPMPatch.pl /System/Library/Extensions/AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement.kext/Contents/MacOS/AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement
copy-paste:
sudo perl AICPMPatch.pl /System/Library/Extensions/AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement.kext/Contents/MacOS/AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement --patch
copy-paste:
sudo touch /System/Library/Extensions

5) Open org.chameleon... in TextEdit, and add:

<key>DropSSDT</key>
    <string>Yes</string>

6) :)

Hello.

 

I'm using DSDT Editor on my work computer since I can't boot into my hackingtosh at home. I removed all the lines for Scope_PR, then I used P8P67 PRO.txt patch. Then I tried to compile, but says there are many errors, and clicking Fix Errors doesn't fix them:

Try this one(0 erros)

 

Put in your Extra folder and add this in org.chameleon

<key>DSDT</key>
<string>/Extra/DSDT.aml</string>

and this to do Chameleon recognize your SMbios

<key>SMBIOS</key>
<string>/Extra/SMBios.plist</string>

Have you add all this parametres???

Hello Pimentel.

 

The first time I booted with your DSDT everything worked great. I tested sleep and it took about 15 seconds to go to sleep, but it worked. I tested sleep again, and it took another 15 seconds to sleep, but it worked.

 

I rebooted to test everything again, but this time mouse and keyboard don't work, so I can't login to Mavericks. I rebooted, and same problem: mouse and keyboard don't work. I tired different USB porst, but same problem.

 

Any ideas?
