Allan Posted December 30, 2013 Share Posted December 30, 2013 What you need: Mountain Lion 10.8.5 (Last) Mavericks AppStore. Clover UEFI Pendrive with Clover in UEFI mode. Patience. Here we go: 1 - Open Disk Utility and repair disk permissions of the system to prevent problems. 2 - In your folder Applications, open "Install OS X Mavericks.app", and run it normally, and select the partition that the Mavericks will be installed. Wait for 30 seconds and reboot. In Clover screen, select "Install OS X Mavericks". It did not work for me this option open by Clover, so I shut down, and up with Clover penboot. After loading, these images will appear. and in the end of install. After installed, go with pendrive because the modified kexts were replaced by new ones. Reinstall the kexts, and format the EFI partitionin the installation the Mavericks has modified her. After you get it sure, with the right ready kexts and EFI restart. mattsnowboard Posted April 12, 2014 Share Posted April 12, 2014 If I initially setup Mountain Lion with Chameleon (using this guide http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/292030-success-vanilla-ml-1085-on-ga-z87x-ud4h-4770k-haswell/ and mostly this guide http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/280756-guide-the-all-in-one-guide-to-vanilla-os-x-including-chameleon-dsdt-for-beginners-updated-for-mavericks/), should it be easy enough to follow this method to do an update and switch to clover at the same time? Or would I need to setup Clover first on its own? I'm also interested in using this other guide (http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/293574-beginners-guide-to-uefi-tripledual-boot-os-x-windows-and-linux-kali-on-an-single-true-gpt-ssd/) to get a Windows 8.1 dual-boot working. So Clover just seems like the best option (and should be fine on my machine with UEFI). I just don't know how much of a pain it can be to switch from Chameleon to Clover. Any tricks to moving to Clover? So far I'm installing Clover on a USB, which boots into Clover fine. But when I try to boot from the USB Clover to the HDD existing mac install, it's getting stuck. I did the install (which booted fine from my HDD Clover, no USB needed). And when I rebooted, Clover was still intact and Mavericks still had my modified kexts. I did need to update the Nvidia retail driver (without that, on Mountain Lion I would get cases where the machine wouldn't wake from sleep and had some grfx messages in the console), but it was pretty easy. I am trying to make sure that nothing else is broken due to the upgrade. For example I'm getting some crashes in the preferences pane for the Apple wireless trackpad, but that may be due to the fact that after this I installed Windows for a dual-boot and tried unsuccessfully to add the wireless keyboard/trackpad to Windows. From what I've read there are some things that persist in the BIOS with these Bluetooth pairings. But that's another issue entirely. Is it as simple as removing the pairing, deleting the kext (though I'd back it up in case I'm wrong) and trying to pair again? I wasn't sure if the kext was installed during the pairing or built into the OS. Should I also "reinstall" the Bluetooth module somehow to get to a clean state? Or is it likely a Trackpad issue if the wireless keyboard is working fine? Sorry to hijack this thread though... Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

One other issue is I reinstalled the BluetoothMultitouch and Multitouch kexts, and tried the ones I already had. Either way, the trackpad preference pane is crashing for me. Looks like the demo video will get corrupted (turns into random green-ish squares like the decoding is failing) and cause the preference pane to crash. Multitouch gestures stopped working, so I had to delete the preferences and reboot to re-generate. Still not sure how to fix the preference pane crash. I do have the crash dumps for this, something about the async media player (I'll have to take a look again at home). Any ideas about this? Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

The one from the install disk (looking at both the BluetoothMultitouch and Multitouch, can't remember the exact naming). Interestingly, I had a different slightly different version of the Multitouch kext (one driver in the package was larger. But they both seem to work the same. I don't think the kext is the issue, but the preference pane (.prefpane). That preference pane shows a demo video thing for each option. And that video works for a few seconds, then looks like it's getting decoded incorrectly (turns green pixelated/blocky), then the preference pane crashes. Reopening causes it to keep crashing. Either the prefpane has a bad video. Or there is some bad codec being used. Not sure how to track down the issue... Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
