arno1z
Hey ! I've just installed Mavericks vmware image with Workstation. That's work fine, but i can't select a resolution of 3200 x 1800. My Laptop is the new Dell XPS 2014, and the screen is a 3200 x 1800 display. The Max resolution i can get is 2560x1600. Is it possible to set a 3200 x 1800 ? When OSX is on a real MacBookPro Retina, the resolution is 2880x1800, so OSX can do more than 2560. If i virtualize Windows XP in Workstation i can select 3200x1800 but in mavericks i can't ! Is it possible ?! Thanks for your answer.
Long Cat
You need to make OS X think it's running on a retina MBP. Can you change the system definition (smbios) on a Vmware virtual machine? You want MacBookPro11,3 or something along those lines.
arno1z
i just test with a lion image, and my 3200x1800 screen is properly detected in the osX' display preference. well, fine ? no ! because osx is not correctly displayed with this resolution: ok for the 3200 but the 1800 lines are cutted. but at least, i can set something like 2800x1773 (not remember exaclty) it's better but not perfect with macericks it's bad i don't know about the smbios... arno1z
Some screenshots: On OSX LION, i can Select 3200x1800 in the option, but the display is cutted: http://www.hostingpics.net/viewer.php?id=484573OSX108MountainLion20131225033527.png So i can select 2364x1773, it's better but not perfect because it's not a real fullscreen: http://www.hostingpics.net/viewer.php?id=929793OSX108MountainLion20131225033435.png On Mavericks, i've not the same choice.2560x1600 is the max, no 3200X1800 monitor detected, and the best option is to set 2360x1770. Work but not fullscreen. http://www.hostingpics.net/viewer.php?id=538507OSXMavericks20131225033856.png http://www.hostingpics.net/viewer.php?id=115674OSXMavericks20131225034329.png
