Thank you for the referal. Ill will try my hand at it. I hope it works out. I plan on buying a mac some time in the future but for now i would like to test it. Will it run more or less the same as it would on a true mac machine?

It might. OSX is designed for a limited set of hardware. If you are outside that limited set, you may not get all of your hardware working or might get it partially working.

For instance, if your hard drive is SATA, OSX has limited support for SATA controllers. If yours isn't supported, you might have to install a PATA drive. Sound, video and network (wireless or ethernet) typically take some hacking to get them working properly. Some sound chips and some wireless chips are not supported at all and won't be working. Alternate devices might have to be installed.

Some people even have trouble booting the install DVD. They have to use VMWare in Windows to install OSX to the hard drive. Generally, once that happens, you can run OSX without using VMWare.

The SATA might have trouble depending upon the SATA controller chip.

Sound Blaster is out.

Ethernet depends upon what model it is.

x1600 - use the Boris link in my sig. Posting 1 is a manual method. Posting 3 has an installer. They do slightly different things. Some people have greater success with one or the other.

Ok so my hard drive might have some issues. Sound blaster wont work no matter what. The ethernet might work might not work and the video card has a fix?

EDIT: I also have an on board sound card. The motherbord is asus.
