Mouse pointer jumping

Hello,

I've just been noticing this strange mouse lag (pointer jumping) recently, something similar to what's been discussed in this topic:

http://smoothmouse.net/forum/topic/37-pointer-teleportation-bug/

Practically, I just move the mouse as usual but at some point from time to time it skips further than I wanted and sometimes to a random location.

I've also noticed some USB problems with my Midi Keyboard, while playing piano, it stops working at some point and if I disconnect and connect it back it starts working again. These problems are not related to the mouse or the Midi Keyboard as they work just fine in Windows or on other devices.

Any idea on what might be causing this ?

Thanks!

Are you using a bluetooth mouse? I had a similar problem with my magic trackpad once, and although I didn't check my MIDI keyboard, I remember it causing lag with all other USB devices as well. I plugged it into another port and didn't have any issues after that.

This issue has nothing to do with bluetooth. See sig for device details, but I have a wired mouse and I'm having the same issue on Mavericks. Did not occur on 10.9.2 but after updating to 10.9.4 mouse jumps every couple of seconds. Easy to tell by just moving the mouse cursor in a circle in the middle of your screen.  After about 2 seconds, its position will noticeably jump.

I'm currently investigating possible fixes and will post an update here when I find one. If someone else has fixed this issue, please let me know.

Update: For me the issue was a buggy experimental kext. I'm using ALXEthernet.kext for my onboard Atheros AR8161 ethernet and this kext was causing the issue. After removing this kext, my mouse is no longer jumpy, though I lose ethernet on that port. Luckily my board also has an Intel ethernet port that works.

I am having the same issue, Mouse jumps every couple of seconds

I also tried the fix from CrazyJAT and deleted the Realtek81xx.kext but no luck.

Update:

I booted into OSX with GE=No and now its gone seems like a problem with the Graphics Driver for me hmm

I started figuring out what might be the cause of the problem..

I noticed that my mouse stops working if i turn my hair drier and place its cable near the mouse cable.

The electro-magnetic interference at a certain frequency is probably the cause.

Also i have noticed that when my cursor jumps around the network stops.. so i guess that it has to do with

electromagnetic interference inside the motherboard components when network chip starts working on a

certain frequency, perhaps the leads on a hackintosh motherboard are simply just too close to mouse input or something like that.

Please i would like for someone to confirm this behavior and investigate further cause i am not to knowledgable about electronics.

I've had the same thing happen with the USB cable for the mouse drooping past a speaker placed on the floor. The EMI plays with the signal.
