angelol
Hello guys...after updating my system to 10.8.5 i cant boot in ML without the -F flag.Yes,capital F..Im in the hackintosh business from 2008 and i have never ever ran into this problem again after an update. My system is as follows:GA EP-43-DS3Intel Quad Core Q9550nVidia GTX 260 By saying it doesnt boot,i mean that it hangs.. in the versbose boot i see a backtrace in the ioacpifamily kext wich, according to my google searches is a problem with the new smc mode introduced in 10.8.5.also i see that it changes in the old smc mode moments before it boots into the desktop.By the way i see the same things when i boot my mavericks installation all the way from DP1,but it doesnt require the -F flag to boot.any help, predictions regarding the root of the problem is greatly appreciated.kudos! rlf
Capital -F tells Chameleon to ignore the boot.plist in the Extra folder. So, the first thing to do is to review what boot flags you have in that plist. Secondly, do you get the backtrace message when you boot -v -F ? angelol
sorry for the late reply, but although i haven't solved completely my problems,i now know a little bit more..so,after testing i found out that the -F flag wasn't the one that made my pc boot,it was the npci=0x3000 or 2000 that prevented it from booting, although i cant understand why that happens. After i removed it from my o.c.b.p my pc boots fine.Noted here that the npci flag hadn't been this kind of pain in the ass before, and thats why i didn't think to accuse it for my problems.now for the backtrace in ioacpi family it seems that there is another case..If GraphicsEnabler=Yes is present in the bootflags,it happens but it boots fine.If GE=No there is no backtrace. JaE-V
having the same problem, i don't and never had ncpi in my plist. I do however run graphics enabler yes
angelol
from what i have learned up untill now the npci doesnt play nice with the patched applehda.kext in 10.8.5..so i think thats the cause, without knowing the technicalities...and if im right the backtrace has something to do with the graphcisenabler=yes applehda and hdmi audio..i think that if i boot without GE,there is no backtrace, since there is no hdmi audio properties to inject thus giving no conflicts with the applehda. The reasons why i say these things is that after countless hours of testing i found that there is no backtrace if there is no GraphcisEnabler or no working applehda.kext loaded. The only one possible combination that i could think of is hdmi audio.I didnt look any further since thats a problem that doesnt really bother me but i think this info,if there is a tiny bit of truth in there, could help someone.
