I have not been able to get screen brightness adjustment to work in High Sierra and have been going crazy trying to figure out why it wouldn't work. GenericBrightness.kext worked but made my OS crash whenever it woke from video sleep. This kext solved that problem with one caveat: I can't get High Sierra to boot up with your kext in Clover/kexts/10.13. However, it does work when installed in L/E. Thanks very much for your work. If you happen to see this comment, I would appreciate it if you could tell me what you did to modify the kext. It will give me some insight into why the GenericBrightness.kext causes OS crashes (for you, when you plug/unplug HDMI and for me, when the OS wakes from video sleep.)
