HP Envy 15-j003 OS X ML 10.8.4 problem

Hey everyone!

 

I recently bought a new laptop, the HP Envy 15-j003 with a i7-4702MQ Haswell processor, 16 GB RAM, Nvidia GT 750M and all those goodies.

I managed to run OS X Mountain Lion 10.8.4 via VMWare on Windows 8, so I created a bootable USB with ML 10.8.4 using myHack. I booted with my USB, but it hangs at the Apple logo; no loading, nothing. Just a simple black Apple logo with a grey background.

 

I also tried a few flags: -v GraphicsEnabler=No PCIrootUID=0, but it didn't work out too.

 

I really have no clue about this, I don't have any previous experience. Could anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong? What can I do to fix it? I'm trying for 2 days now, but still no luck so far.

UPDATE

 

I created a new USB with [url="http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/279450-why-insanelymac-does-not-support-tonymacx86/"]#####[/url] and Chimera 2.2.0. I also installed [url="http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/279450-why-insanelymac-does-not-support-tonymacx86/"]#####[/url] 1.0.0, this is the progress: it loads a bit, then gets stuck and gets a white symbol above the apple logo like this:

 

I tried with the flags -v -f and this is what I get:

 

Anyone familiar with this? I really have no clue.

You're probably missing the AHCI driver for your chipset. I'm not familiar with any of TMX86 stuff, so you can ask there if you want. I'd recommend you wait for 10.8.5 or download 10.9 for native support for haswell.

I read that AHCI is enabled by default on my laptop (no change option in BIOS), so I don't think that's the problem. Besides that, I just tried 10.9 (DP 1), but in this case, it's not stuck at the Apple logo, but the computer restarts itself at a certain point, anyone familiar with that?

EDIT: Also, any idea when 10.8.5 will be released?

No... What Dr. Hurt is saying, is that you don't have the correct AHCI injector kext for the chipset in your machine.

 

Have you got an AHCIinjector.kext in /Extra or /S/L/Ex ?

why don't you replace mac_kernel with 10.85 mach_kernel and check, Have you installed chimera 2.2 that support Haswell?...if not 

install it and you will be fine. i just did the same on my acer v7 haswell with intel HD 4400. 

Make sure u have NullcpupowerManagement and FakeSMC in Extra or S/L/E and try running with -v flag to see what is the issue.

This is what I did, created a fresh USB (again), installed the latest version of Chimera 2.2 (this already had FakeSMC en NullCPUPowerManagement in Extra), added AHCIPortInjector.kext, changed smbios (used Macbook Pro Retina as reference) (with Chameleon Wizard), replaced mach_kernel (with 10.8.5). This is the result: it immediately restarts without even showing the Apple logo.

 

I changed the mach_kernel again (with 10.8.4), and this time it was stuck at the Apple logo (again...). I booted with -v to see the problem, and the problem is that it stops loading the kexts after 10 seconds or so.. No errors, it just stops loading, the black screen clears up immediately.

 

Unfortunately, I'm afraid it's never going to work out as I really need Mac OS for xCode.

I hate to post just to be a buzzkill, but I've an HP ENVY dv6-7247cl, and I've yet to be able to upgrade beyond 10.8.1. After weeks of researching and trying possible solutions, I'm pretty sure it's because of the lack of a SATA controller mode option in the BIOS (which, as you noted, shouldn't matter because AHCI is supposedly already enabled ). I, too, get the "Still waiting for root device" on both my 10.8.4 installation and 10.9 installation. I don't want to say "give up" since that would mean I should as well, but just know that anyone with an HP has had the same issue, and as of yet, I can't find a solution. 

 

Edit: Just thought I'd clarify about AHCI already being enabled--what I mean is that RAID mode apparently has the features of AHCI, but that doesn't help the situation of it not actually being AHCI.

Please don't discuss here problems with the outcomings of an here not supported site. You should therefore go to the developers site and ask there or themselves for support.

You could also have a look here under Downloads at Pandora. You get guided trough the install options with tips.

 

You are well advised to keep away from the tools of this here not supported platform, because the installed software is branded with the signature of this site (look for example in a SMBios .plist). Even enctrypted files are in this tools (Look here: http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/278907-permanently-banned-from-tonymacx86/page-15?do=findComment&comment=1937877 ) If they harm, nobody knows except the developers of these files or even not by themselves.

 

I bet, if you ask there about this circumstances, you all are  banned for lifetime form there.

 

if you don't want to spread easy to be followed marks all over the  Internet, then stay away from the above mentioned.

 

 

In addition are  this builds in misbelief of the operator company by installing the beasted Software as OSX-Hosts legalized. I'm wondering all the time about , why the labeling "CustoMac" is not already registered as protected trademark.
