AtlantisX
I am interested to find out which USB contollers and chipsets are supported by Apple's native USB 3.0 driver in Mac OS X 10.8.4 and beyond. To be clear, I would like to find which contollers can just be dropped into a Mac Pro or a Hackintosh and they just work... (BTW - Please don't suggest Caldigit or HighPoint or hacking a NEC card to use drivers from either of them. Both offer half a55ed support for OS X at best)

Dr. Hurt
I think only intel 7-series chipset is natively supported but it requires extensive DSDT patching to allow USB multiplexing (ie. backward compatibility with USB2.0).

That is incorrect. Only about 50% of 7 series boards used Intel's USB 3.0 on the chipset.

Rampage Dev
Hmmm... How about chipsets for PCIe USB 3.0 add on cards? 3rd party drivers only. Best bet is to go with LGA 2011.
Mac Hosehead
Hmmm... How about chipsets for PCIe USB 3.0 add on cards? I have been using this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIA1DS0NZ0600 It is based on a Fresco Logic FL1100. Worked OOB. Some people fail to power the 4 pin molex and it doesn't work. -MH

hope2
Not Long Ago I found a peripheral manufacturer called Inateck provide USB3.0 express card for Mac computer and Mac Pro desktops. Using PCI-E USB 3.0 interface express card, it's in keeping with PCI-E 2.0 specification, as well as theoretical transfer speed reaches in order to 5.0Gbps. As long as there is extra PCI-E connector on your own motherboard, it can guide two USB 3.0 interface, allowing faster transfer speeds and time savings. Slice
Why not using third party drivers? It is legal operation for native Mac under warranty.
