So, I installed mavericks using Clover with UEFI from the actual setup app. I do NOT make a USB bootable version, clover booted straight into the app and it installed. I noticed from the Logs that it also made a Recovery HD partition automatically. I upgraded to DP 2 as the ATI drivers were broken. I then turned on FileVault and restarted my computer. It appears that it is currently encrypting my laptop. i will let you guys know if this works in a day or so as it has a lot to encrypt.

Cheers

Really don't understand that... Clover can't start the app?! You already used a OSX86 installation to install right?

He booted clover from a USB with FakeSMC on it by kext folder.

He restored original OS X mavericks 10.9 on another usb.

He booted Original Mavericks image by clover on the usb.

After format Clover creates automatically Recovery HD.

Is almost perfect vanilla install ever!

TIP: Partition system MUST be GPT GUID otherwise may not working!

I install Clover on an 4GB (FAT32) USB Stick and make it first bootable device …
and edit Config.plist : and add convenient lines for GPU : (other is SMbios and some PCI & theme stuffs...)

and put My DSDT.aml on EFI/ACPI/patched…
and put FakeSMS.kext in EFI/Kexts/10.8 and repaire permission …

sudo chown -R root:wheel /[usb path]/EFI/kexts/10.8/FakeSMC.kext

sudo chmod -R 755 /[usb path]/EFI/kexts/10.8/FakeSMC.kext

Install OSX 10.8.3 :

1- boot from Clover USB
2- choose Mac osx 10.8.3 Install Disk
3-OS X Recovery Menu appears

4- Choose Disk Utility and format my Macintosh HD
5- quit Disk Utility and install OSX
6- restart for first time the select Macintosh HD from Clover Boot screen
7 - after finishing ... and restart (( there is a recovery partition ...WOW icon_thumbup.gif and it's work like a charm headbang.gif)
8- boot normally to OSX
9- install My Kexts...

What's work :
- everything works fine from sleep/wake up to power management ..
- Graphics work great (DVI VGA HDMI)
- All USB work without any problem with sleep
- Firewire - ATA - SATA Work ...
- iCloud
- Bootcamp work
gasp_osx.png
- even (Find My Mac) work because (there is a recovery partitionicon_thumbup.gif

Interesting way....

well i just found out about clover, first have get it booting...

There's a wiki, a dedicated section here, and its main thread is at projectosx.

oh wow this is a lot of info!

A lot of possibilities!

Also... i don't think i will have time for it to study, maybe I stick to Chameleon, which looks a bit more for dummies like me ;)

Only making a config file for my system looks already difficult... ;)

I think i will give it a try because nothing looks to work right now, i can't even sea picture (Black-Green theme)

Now i have to find out what i have to use in my config file.

I need something for the XMP to get my memory on 1600mhz

Also need somecode for my Haswell processor i7-4770

Do i need more? I have gforce GTX650

Don't use onboard audio an lan, i have an pci intel pro 1000mt

Anyone have an idea for the config file?

I have two internal hard drives so it made it easy. I started with a USB flash for clover then installed clover to the other hard drive. Then booted the first hard drive using UEFI Clover and told it to install Mavericks which registered the DMG with the booted EFI (Clover from the other hard drive) and then rebooted into the DMG using injected Kexts (Fake SMC) and installed just like vanilla. The encryption does not work as Clover still does not support the password from EFI boot. So, blah... one failure. But everything else is working. I simply booted into my other hard drive and reverted from core storage using diskutil to undo my encryption.

Just boot clover from a USB and try it out. It auto detects a lot of stuff. It sometimes glitches on the graphics and you have to set the theme from the UI before it straightens up! Happy Hacking!!!

At what type of ecnryption do you talking about?

FileVault encryption or EFI BIOS password.

Or do you reffer by booting on EFI System partition or Recovery HD Created by the install? Personally I installed Clover on Core Mavericks partition.

As I know FileVault encryption is working anyway by using Clover or Chameleon.

EDIT: For encryption to work is mandatory to have RecoveryHD.

My install still fails. I create a USB ,then I restore InstallESD.dmg of Mavericks to it..... what next? I restore Basesystem.dmg to it and copy over mach_kernel. But nothing .... Clover just gets stuck at the following line after loading Caches, kernel and UUID

"Loading drivers..................." Never moves forward :(

Same :/

Please help :D

For me, I used the clover installer from windows to create a BOOT folder in EFI folder (my pc needs the boot folder :/) and it automaticly partitionate the usb to 2 drives (Clover 256 MB -I configured it- and another blank space where I restaured the BaseSys and copied Packages and mach_kernel and I tried to take boot.efi to the root folder -just copied-)

This works for 10.8.x but not on MV :/

Why does filevault2 need a recovery partition? I guess the boot loader which does the the login and the rooting of the encrypted drive is stored there. Then it would be easy to invoke it with clover. Maybe just some arguments to boot.efi to NOT boot recovery but start OS X.

Or is the login completely handled by the firmware? That would be some work for the clover devs :(
