Need Helps: Install ML10.8.4 on Haswell (Xeon 1230v3) + Gigabyte H87 D3H + GTX 560ti

Hi all,

I'm trying to install ML 10.8.4 on my Haswell System.

My PC's spec is:

_ CPU: Xeon 1230v3.

_ Mainboard: Gigabyte H87-D3H (Bios F3).

_ VGA: Nvidia GTX 560ti.

I'm follow the process here to create an USB install http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/290716-successinstall-ml1084-on-haswell-h87-gtx650-platform/?p=1934235

1. I create the USB Install Boot from ML 10.8.4 dmg.

2. I download the update 10.8.5 and put the march_kernel to the USB.

3. Install Chameleon 2.2

Then I try to boot.

First error: "PCI Configuration". => I solved it with the legacy kext. Then I boot with -v -f GraphicsEnabler=No PCIRootUID=1 npci=0x3000 => Pass the PCI Error.

Now I'm stuck at "Still waiting for Boot device".

Tried some ACHI kext. ANd boot with UseKernelCache=No cpus=1, it show some thing like: AppleUSBEHCI ...UIMInnitalize=unable to get device memory => then the erro "Still waiting for boot device"

If you have any idea how to solve the problem plz help me. Thank you.

Update: Nothing new ....

I tried the settings that were recommended.

_ My H87 D3H mainboard dont have onboard graphic

_ It's dont have secure boot either.

_ I switched to

- XHCI mode set to Auto instead of Smart Auto

- EHCI Hand-off enabled

- XHCI Hand-off enabled

- Network stack DISABLED

Then boot with: -v -f -x npic=0x2000 GraphicsEnabler=No PCIRootUID =>>>>>> Still got error "Still waiting for root device"

I'm really sad right now.

Hopefully someone can help me. Thx so much.

Which version of Chameleon are you using?
My Haswell boot 10.8.4 with Chameleon 2254 and I'm using myHack with mach_kernel 10.8.5.
BIOS > load default settings.

Bootflags:
-v npci=0x2000 GraphicsEnabler=No -x

Also mind your typing. It's not npic=0x2000 but npci

I used Chameleon v2.2svn r2255. Copy the mach_kernel from 10.8.5

Yes, I typed npci.

But still got error:(.

Your video card has the FERMIN!!!!

Check the problem of that card.

I read in TonyGay that they have a patch for this one! Try with that - (I have no experienced with Fermin Card)...

(MultiBe****)

I will try. But I boot with GraphicsEnabler=No, does it ignore the graphic card?

Ignore the injector. But, because the kernel recognize native the card.

But Fermin Cards it´s other story.

But my card is kind of the same with GTX 650 ti etc... And some of them successfully installed. Btw, can you give me the link to solve the fermi problem?

Some new progress.

I create complete new USB installer.

Use the ACHIInject kext.

Use the boot flag: -v -f GraphicsEnabler=No PCIRootUID=1

And "somehow", I dont have the "still waiting for root device".

Now I got a new friend: dsmos has arrived ???!!!!

I follow some guide,

Remove all kext (Ati, intel, geforce, nvidia) from Sys/Lib/Ext

Remove the kernelcache from apple.com ...startup.

But It doesn;t work.

ANyone ?

I was watching the Mavericks forum. In the personal description of a lot of people said they configuration and the OSX that are working in their system. I was writing for, at least, 10 people in a private mode. But anyone wrote me.(Maybe its for my bad english) Or maybe you can get son response, answers about your problem. I think, like me, you are very closed to get full funcionality.

If you live in USA, you can get a cheap 6xxxx ti - the 760 are very cheap... I hope my problem were changue a product... my preocupation is changue all, mother, haswell... in my country buy an apple means work a year completely! Thats why I´m tryng this....

ps: Have you take a walk in Netkas site? I think he´s one of the best, like Pike... and Steve, but, well...

-v ncpi=0x2000 -f -x GraphicsEnabler=Yes

Try these boot flags EXZACTLY. See if it boots. Testing install only no graphics audio ect... let us know

Maybe if you add pci=off to the boot flags?

I tried all. and remove the NVD follow this guide. Still stop at DSMOS has arrived !

Update, Just incase somebody can help me....

I tried again. Yes again on my system, with details as folllow:

_ CPU: Xeon 1230v3 (Haswell).

_ Mainboard: Gigabyte GA H87 D3H.

_ VGA: GTX 560ti.

I'm following the method:

_ I formated the USB with GUID option.

_ Restore Based dmg from mac 10.8.4

_ Copy package from installed to USB

_ Copy the march_kernel 10.8.5 to USB

_ Copy fakesmc.kext and NullCPU to USB/System/Library/Extension

_ Install Chameleon 2.2 to the USB

Now I'm back to zero: Stuck at: Still waiting for root device.

Can anyone help me what I'm missing here.

The same process I did with ML 10.9 DP1, I passed the still waiting for root device. But stuck at DSMOS has arrived.

I think your problem could be GenericUSBXHCI.kext and AppleIntelE1000e.kext (from library, extensions.

Try to delete this kext, after this you can install and check wich one are giving a problem.

Why are you copy the NullCPU?

I will try again.

About the NullCPU, I follow some guide and they copy it. I'm a newbie and dont know why or why not to copy the null CPU.

So beside the kext problem, the proccess I make is ok ?

Because I really confused about GUID and MRB.

I have 1st SSD already installed WIndows 7,

I plan to install MAC OS to the 2nd HDD. ( With some partition, no one have active OS on it).

When create ML 10.9 I created MRB, and it leaks me to DSMOS has arrived then stop.

When create ML 10.8.4 I created GUID and it stops at Still waiting for boot devices.

the patched 10.8.4 kernel needs nullcpupowermanagement.kext. the 10.8.5 does not

10.8.4 with patched kernel or with 10.8.5 kernel does not need GenericUSBXHCI USB 3.0 driver. 10.8.5 beta needs it.

with IOAHCIBlockStorageInjector.kext my osx does only boot with -f -v -x and i don't find the other HDD's (and if visible at disk utility they are not mountable)

Your Bios Setting all HDDs are AHCI and Hot-Plug?

Disabled the onboard GPU?

try:

GraphicsEnabler=Yes -f -x -v npci=0x2000 (or try with 0x3000) PCIRootUID=1 (you also can try it with 0)

My CPU doesn't have integrated graphics, THe main board also doesn't have the integrated graphic option. All I have is the GTX 560ti. (yes, ti version).

I tried to swictch to Hot-Plugs, but it really slow my Boot process. And when I tried on ML 10.9, with AHCI and hot-plug "Disabled" it pass the still waiting and stop at DSMOS. So I guess hot-plug is not the problem here.

I think I tried all the flag: GraphicsEnabler=Yes -f -x -v npci=0x2000 (or try with 0x3000) PCIRootUID=1, still nothing better.

But for sure, I will try again.

Maybe god just hate me.

I´ll copy this for you:

Try MacPro4,1 o 5,1 works with the memory, like a server, and you have to delete some kext. It´s useful for x58 or when you work with GraphicsPowerManagment, when you have an Nvidia Fermi.

Can you change you card for a 6xxx series? buy cheap or no New like gtx 640 or 650. maybe you have a friend with that card and try if thats the problem.

I'm thinking about graping a gtx650 or upgrade to the gtx660ti.

Does the gtx 660 ti works natively on MAC OS?

Btw, does gtx 650ti (ti boost version, not gtx650 default) work with OS X?

the 650ti / 660ti is working out of the box

the newest bios version for your board is F5: http://www.gigabyte.de/products/product-page.aspx?pid=4491#bios

perhaps is the update usefully

Like FusselFux said 6xxx and 7xxx Out of the box. With ti or Not ti

NOT 4xxx and 5xxx

Try to get the new 760. It´s an amazing card, cheaper than 660 and faster than 670.

In my country the price of gtx 760 still High. But I'm very interesting about this one. So, the 760 is working natively? Is there a place where I can found about natively working vgas?

I'm trying to borrow a NVIDIA 9500gt for first boot? Is this card ok?
