OS X 10.8 on GA-Z87MX-D3H | i7 4770K | HD 4600

Hi there, I have followed this http://myhack.sojugarden.com/guide/ guide but I can't boot in the OS X installer because the booting process is stopped at this http://i.imgur.com/IAuj8.jpg point. In my case I have not even the "charging symbol" underneath the Apple logo. How can I fix this? Thanks. After the installation I will update my system at the OS X 10.8.5 Beta Build 12F20 to get all the devices working.

So there is no chance to install 10.8 and then update to the last beta of 10.8.5? I haven't tried Mavericks because if I understand correctly, 10.9 is not fully compatible with my hardware and I would need to do some tricks that I not understand well...

What bootloader? Retail or distro?

Try booting with "-v npci=0x2000 PCIRootUID=1"

I've used the bootloader provided by the installation process of myHack. Thanks for the advice, but I can't see any change! After the installation process of myHack I've also installed on the USB key, Chimera 2.1.1.

EDIT: JUST GOOGLED YOUR CPU, it's a Haswell..

That's why! You need a patched kernel! Unfortunately I don't know if they exist at the moment.

Been under development by MacMan, you need to search for one.

Ooh thanks! I didn't know! If I try to install Mavericks would be the same thing? So I can't install 10.8 also if I want to upgrade it to the Build 12F23 of 10.8.5?

http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/290434-how-to-install-mountain-lion-on-a-haswell-machine-without-1085/

I was able to install 10.8.4 on GA-H87-HD3, i7 4770, gtx 260. I did usb stick boot with myhack then replace mach_kerne with 10.8.5. mach_kernel.

Hey mate, could You please go more in details with this one.

What tool did You use to prepare Your flash drive?

Which build mach_kernel did You use?

Did You install using Your discrete GPU or integrated GPU?

Which flags You used when booting from install drive ?

I have similar MB - GA-H87M-D3H - but I always stuck at PCI configuration begin when installing.

Thanks!

But if we try to install 10.9? Wouldn't be better? If I understand correctly we could have the native kernel support, right?

I fear problems that may occur on 1.9, as it's not even a beta. 10.8.4 on the other hand is stable and 10.8.5 brings a native support too in next couple of weeks.

But to install 10.8.5 we need to make a bootable USB with 10.8 and then, install the combo update right? So, when 10.8.5 comes out we should have the same problem...

* Create usb stick using myhack: download from here

       1.  mount 10.8.4

       2.  run myhack.app

       3.  create OS X Installer > Create OS X 10.8 Install Disk

       4   select your usb

       5. choose browse an select location of install OS X (Mountain) Lion.app

6 After all files have been transferred it will automatically install Chameleon, myHack utilities, a Generic Extra

* delete mach_kernel from usb installer

* empty trash

* Go here and right-click and save the file "mach_sse4_exts". Rename this file to mach_kernel. Copy mach_kernel in your root usb

* Reboot and install OS X

* Reboot back to the Installer disk

* Open up Terminal and type in "cp /mach_kernel /Volumes/NameOfTheHardDriveYouInstalledOSXOn"

* Open Disk Utility and Repair Permissions on NameOfTheHardDriveYouInstalledOSXOn

* Reboot to your OS X installation

I used discrete GPU and the onboard GPU disable.

No flags. You can use -v to view what happens.

Bios setup:

- Onboard SATA set to AHCI mode

- XHCI mode set to Auto

- EHCI Hand-off enabled

- XHCI Hand-off enabled

-BIOS Ver: F3

Thanks for Your help. So far I tried U..beast installer, myHack (I copied mach_kernel from latest 10.8.5 build) generic and  with all kexts except FakeSMC removed. Tried with both npci options - 0x2000 and 0x3000, unfortunately still stuck.

Any more ideas I could dig in?

When does stuck? When you install from usb or when after install and try to boot for first time?

Hey mate, if You follow similar thread then You probably saw that by using Vanilla installation method, SMBios.plist for newest iMac and mach_kernel from 10.8.5 I was able to install.

The problem is though, that whenever I select my OSX drive to boot from I am welcomed by a black screen.

Tried different flags - -v, -x, -f, PCIRootUID=0/1, GraphicsEnabler=No/Yes. No use so far.

Same issues here on my Haswell. I've tried ML and Mavericks with no success using MyHack and other tools.

Same KP as related: black screen, PCI Configuration Begin, DSMOS has Arrived and any others instead of changing kernel and FakeSMC.kext (http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/files/file/107-fakesmc-w-haswell-cpu-sensor-for-1089/).

Deleted kexts, used so many flags, smbios new iMac and MacbookAir6.1...

Waiting for new tools, FakeSMC and mod kernel.
