why vmtools on mavericks gives diff resolutions than vmtools on ML10.8.4 ?

actually the topic says everything.

i have vmware working station installed on windows 8.

 

i have two VM: 

1. Mountain Lion 10.8.4 (upgraded to 10.8.5) - runs on 1680x1050

2. Mavericks DP 3 - runs on 1400x1050

 

both have the same vmware tools package installed.

 

but they offer two different lists of resolutions to choose.

 

 

my screen's native resolution is 1680x1050 and i'd very like to have it on my mavericks VM.
