X-TRiAL
Hey guys I would like some advice on my partitioning. I currently have: CODE #: TYPE NAME SIZE IDENTIFIER 0: GUID_partition_scheme *640.1 GB disk0 1: EFI 209.7 MB disk0s1 2: Microsoft Basic Data Windows 8 78.6 GB disk0s2 3: Microsoft Basic Data 59.1 GB disk0s3 4: Linux Swap 8.6 GB disk0s4 5: Microsoft Basic Data Data 338.2 GB disk0s5 6: Apple_HFS Mac HD 79.9 GB disk0s6 7: Apple_Boot Recovery HD 650.0 MB disk0s7 8: Apple_HFS Time Machine 74.9 GB disk0s8 I want to create a new partition for Mavericks. I think I can use space from the Mac HD and Time Machine partitions using disk utility???, but I don't want to mess up my partition table as I am using a pure GPT and all OS's are booting UEFI. I don't want it to create a Hybrid MBR/GPT. So will it be ok using disk utility, or should I use something like GParted in linux?
Alessandro17
GParted is a much more flexible tool. You can download Parted Magic, which has GParted and countless other tools: http://partedmagic.com/doku.php?id=downloads#.UdSFSVPlj2s
X-TRiAL
It's ok, I used GParted and then checked my MBR using gdisk, its still protective
