It looks like that wdxxfu adapter can also be ordered from potatao website: http://www.potatao.com/index.php?p=item&id=38195333521&vendorId=wdxxfu

that potato site in under maintenance since you posted that link so I can't check it out. I would be curious about pricing etc. If it ships from China and the card costs over 21 Euros, there will be customs etc, so I have to do some math if it's worth ;)

It was working yesterday. Potatao is site from Malaysia. It saves hassle of using Taobao agent.

Most items from Taobao are also present on Potatao site.

Right now Taobao direct price is 310 Yuan which is $50. Potatao price is $51.

Shipping to USA or Europe is $23.

It is shipped as "Electronic Parts". US Customs does not charge any taxes on it.

Hello Emilio!

Do you think this is the same adapter as from taobao? I can see there 4 wires of power:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/221684056140?_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

How do i check it before purchaising? What shoul i ask the seller?

Thanks,

Alex

For those who are trying to use PCI-E Wi-Fi/Bluetooth adapter card in x2, x4, x8, x16 slot:

Most motherboards refuse to work with PCI-E adapters that have both Wi-Fi and Bluetooth powered from PCI-E port other then x1 port.

If installed in x2, x4, x8, x16 ports you will have either Wi-Fi or Bluetooth working but not both at the same time.

There are two different solutions for this problem:

1. PCI-E x1 slot extension cable (when PCI-E x1 slot is blocked or covered by Video Card): http://www.amazon.co....?ie=UTF8&psc=1

or2. wdxxfu studio dapter designed to work in any slot ($43): http://item.taobao.c....id=38195333521

This wdxxfu studio adapter is using Apple branded Broadcom BCM94360CD card found in iMac 2013.

Both Wi-Fi (a/b/g/n/ac) and Bluetooth 4.0/LE work like a charm.

They managed the card to work properly in any slot by providing four wire connection to USB port for Bluetooth Data and Power.

Wi-Fi is powered from PCI-E rail (B-10 3.3Vaux), Bluetooth data connects to USB and Bluetooth power connects to USB through 3.3V AMS1117.

If you don't speak Chinese and want to buy it, search for TAOBAO purchasing agent

I use wdxxfu studio adapter on GA-Z87MX-D3H in PCI-E x16 slot (running at x8 electrical).

So far wdxxfu studio adapter is the only one that has been reported to work properly on any tested motherboard and in any PCI-E slot.

This is what I use successfully on my old GA-EX58-UD5 in PCI-E x1 slot: http://item.taobao.c...&id=36411287267 , http://www.potatao.com/index.php?p=item&id=36411287267&vendorId=miniqoo

It has integrated switch that can change how WiFi and Bluetooth are powered from PCI-E rail, however this adapter refused to work properly in PCI-E x1 slot on GA-Z87MX-D3H.

On GA-Z87MX-D3H either WiFi or Bluetooth would work but not both at the same time.

If you intend to use Mini or Half Mini PCI-E port read post #76.

Hi Alex,

The card that you have linked will only work in PCI-E x1 slot. It has four wires going to USB header, but only two of them are active.

Besides wdxxfu adapter, there is another one which has been reported to work in any PCI-E slot and that is easier to purchase then wdxxfu:  http://www.aliexpres...2269231445.html

Also, wdxxfu studio adapter is now avialable in Europe from amazon UK:  http://www.amazon.co...onymacx86com-21

But when switching to Windows, things get dicey. It needs bootcamp 5.1.5640, which contains all relevant drivers for Windows 10.

In a way it's better supported under Windows when in OS X :)

In OS X it's only supported since 10.9 (if I'm not mistaken). And most likely it is impossible to make it work in anything older than that (say SL). On the Windows side one can use Windows 7 (32 bit without Bluetooth) and up using the above Bootcamp drivers. Windows 7 is quit old OS (from MS perspective).

Bootcamp 5 is officially for 64 bit Windows. But BCM94360CD drivers for Windows 7 32 bit can also be installed from this version of bootcamp.

How to:

  1. Download and extract Bootcamp
  2. Open the above folder and go to BootCamp > Drivers > Broadcom > unpack/extract (do not run! ) BroadcomWirelessWin7x64.exe
  3. Go to the BroadcomWirelessWin7x64 folder
  4. Do not run DPInst.exe - it's 64 bit exe and it will not run under 32 bit OS
  5. Go to Control Panel > Device Manager > Other devices > Network Adapter and right click it
  6. Select "Update driver software" > click "Brows my computer for driver software" > click "Brows" and find the BroadcomWirelessWin7x64 folder
  7. Click "Next" > Windows should now install the driver (it may give a warning, click "install anyway")

This will only install WiFi. Bluetooth driver is 64 bit only and will not work in 32 bit Windows (AFAIK).

A thing to note. There is a bcmwl6.inf file in the BroadcomWirelessWin7x64 folder and this file contains entries for Windows XP (both 32 bit and 64 bit).  Albeit both are referenced to bcmwl5.sys/bcmwl564.sys accordingly which are not present in the install folder.

New to Hackintosh, still working on my first Hackintosh Build. (Asus Rampage V Gene | i7-4930K | 32GB RAM | GTX 760 2GB |  500GB SSD)

Took a punt on this from eBay (as I have no x1 slots on my MoBo), looks similar to what others here have used.  I plan to use this with an Apple keyboard & magic trackpad.

Apple BCM94360CD (BT4.0 & WiFi) on a PCI-E (x1) adapter.

Currently running in a x8 slot, I do not have a x1 slot on my Mobo only x16/x4/x16/x8 (I plan to move it to the x4 slot which clovered by the GPU currently)

Works on 10.11.2 (native support, no kext required)

I did have to delete '/S/L/E/AppleHPET.kext' - as this was stopping my internal USB headers from working since I moved to 10.11 El Capitan.

Bluetooth

Will post an update when I get an Apple Keyboard / TrackPad.

WiFi stable @ 700Mbps
