Today i got this message for the first time from the new NVIDIA System Preferences pane that a new driver is available. I couldn't find this update on their site as a standalone- this could be the first direct update for users of the NVIDIA Web drivers.

How to Install the Web Drivers:
In order to flag the alternate drivers on a CustoMac, you must install the package and also add the flag manually to the chameleon.org.Boot.plist. For Chimera bootloader:

1. Open Finder
2. Navigate to /Extra/org.chameleon.Boot.plist
3. Open in TextEdit
4. Add nvda_drv=1 to Kernel Flags as shown:

Example Usage:

<key>Kernel Flags</key>
<string>darkwake=0 nvda_drv=1</string>

5. Save and reboot

You should be on the new NVIDIA drivers.

I'll wait till it is official. :)

It's nVIDIA official! You have dlink in 1st post!

I think it applies like apple policy. 1st direct software update then available as download package on their site!

...yes...for my gt 430, the patch is still required(just applied it and seems ok)

just in case:(backup original) in terminal

sudo perl -pi -e '$c+=s/\x8b\x81\x1c\x0c\x00\x00\xeb\x06\x8b\x81\x20\x0c\x00\x00/\xb8\x02\x00\x00\x00\x90\xeb\x06\xb8\x00\x00\x00\x00\x90/; END { printf "%s: %d substitution%s made.\n",($c==1 ? "Success" : "Error"),$c,(!$c || $c>1 ? "s" : ""); $?=($c!=1); }' /System/Library/Extensions/GeForceGLDriverWeb.bundle/Contents/MacOS/libclh.dylib

Thanks for the patch. Question: do you still have freezes? Want edits/app do you use to prevent freezing?

Thanks

...i've only had the channel exception error when using the nvidia web drivers with a smbios of Imac... (using MacPro4,1, i have had no freezes) :smoke:

Your serious? So you never had any problems with your GT 430? :S

I've got improvements with this nvidia updates on 10.8.4 with gtx 660ti especially in opencl performance... never had up to 5xx fps in opencl oceanwave benchmark... (if i remember correctly i always had something like 480-490 fps)... maybe not a HUGE jump but.... ;)

EDIT: even in luxmark sala i see some improvements in bench:

I installed the driver + cuda und have the nvidia taskicon but everytime i want to switch and restart the default drivers are loaded!

The Kernel flags are added but no success :(

Greetings

Look at your console, it should say something like this:

14-06-13 20:09:53,000 kernel[0]: NVDAStartup: Web
14-06-13 20:09:53,000 kernel[0]: NVDAGF100HAL loaded and registered

You should first rebuild your kernel cache. Also try to shutdown your computer first and start OS X with a clean session.

Yep, hea has done that (like me) and it works - but the cosmetic problem is that the nvidia prefpane cant "see" the switch - means OS X default is loaded sign - without using nvram plugin (i dont want to use).

...just my 2 cents worth...the web driver is recognized by the system and all apps except Cuda-Z(which still shows the stock apple driver) i load the web drivers at boot prompt, manually typing: nvda_drv=1 ...not using the nvram module :smoke:

@beta992 Have you got any freezes so far? I have tried putting my display to sleep (ctrl-shift-eject) and awaking it again a couple of times and eventually my system froze, but I haven't tried using it normally without my FreezeFix.app. It runs perfectly fine with the new drivers and FreezeFix.app, even when using ctrl-shift eject.

Just installed the updated driver (it was, in fact, an initial install, as I replaced my Visiontek HD5450 iSilence with a GTX 550 Ti).  Painless, painless, painless.  Getting ready to install CUDA now.

hwsensors panic with this driver to!!  Specifically the GPUSensors.kext.  I have the Asus Gamers Laptop G74SX with a GTX 560M 3GB Graphics card.

I removed that driver and it boots fine now.

I'll look for a later versions of hwsensors.  This is the package I used HWSensors.5.2.655.pkg

EDITED:

I installed a later package Version 5.2.678 and the kernel panic is taken care of but the Nvidia Preference will no longer loads!!

But I know the Nvidia Web driver is loaded:

NVDAStartup: Web
NVDAGF100HAL loaded and registered

EDITED AGAIN:

Not working. Its causing Safari to do something really weird like its refreshing constantly with the APple Spin Wheel.  I removed the Web Driver for now.
