I'm studying medicine, and I need a powerful laptop to do research processing microphotographs. and tissue analisys. There is a catch though, you need to complete an inexpensive offer, sometimes it's just applying for a discover card, and then get like 10 people to sign up and complete and offer. If anyone is interested, in very simple words my project is to search patterns in cancerous cells, the idea is find specific membrane proteins from that cell, so try to activate cells against that proteins. this cells will attack only cells with that protein (not the normal ones), and reduce the size of cancer the entire proyect is so so difficult and expensive try to find that specific proteins (my part in the research) is so hard because it should be done by immunofluorescence technique and the problem is all microphotografies should be processed and the size of them is so so so big to get all the details. for that I need a powerfull laptop (work in the university and home) like the macbook pro this is the reason why I need help if somebody con help me, please do it please please any suggestion is welcome (sorry my english is very bad) Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

If that was a joke, I didn't understand what is the funny thing I resolved my problem, I didn't want to tell this problem to my supervisor but I did and she made some contacts to get money through the university result: the university give me the money but the macbook is their property and I should give it back to future researches or anything they want to do with it (the most fair) Markusf I didn't want the easy way but I was desesperate that was all and obviously it's a non-profit research, the money is not my aim And I know to find useful results in this matter is hardly impossible but we will try and try and try thanks to everyone for the help (I hope you can understand what I wrote) Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

However I don't understand why you couldn't buy a second hand notebook and use another OS, like Linux. Or OS X even, if your laptop was compatible enough.
