cdoublejj
I'm not totally new to hackintosh. however it seems i was able to grasp the technical part and the details before with out the basics. So now I need some help because my brain is going to implode. So I guess I'll explain what the heck I'm talking about. I will try not to make this to long winded and might skip over some stuff. Well let me say that I understand the software modification and hardware and compatibility more than i do actually using OSX, which kind of why i even started this whole venture. I wanna learn Hackintosh and OSX especially if there is a chance I might be working on Macs as they get more popular as well as my own curiosity. Because of this curiously I wanted and still want to keep backwards compatibility for my own wants and in the event i need to check out or learn a PPC app for a customer or something along those lines. It started out with working install of Snow Leopard 10.6 on the following ASUS P5E3 Deluxe Wifi Q9550 Samsung wonder ram, 8gb DDR3 1600mhz. GTS250 1gb (single) HDD 200ish-300ish GB Dell P992 CRT (sony Trinitron) Dell CRT (Sony Trinitron) along with Win 7 and Lubuntu for Triple boot. 7 resides on it's own SSD making it more of a dual boot. which was cool but i had the opportunity to trade my GTS250s for a GTX570 and thats when the rabbit hole got REALLY deep. So I invested further into snow leopard because, I soon traded my GTX570 for a GTX480, becasue I found out the GTX570 wouldn't work in SL because no one has tried making modded drivers for it. The GTX480 on the other hand does have modded drivers but for some reason they won't work and the rabbit hole got really deep. http://www.tonymacx8...html#post602031 http://forum.netkas....pic,6519.0.html I thought I wanted SL for because power PC was ditched with newer OS X version. On top of that at first I didn't think there was any thing out there wouldn't run on SL, well it turns out witcher 2 and all the good benchmarks require Lion if not Mt Lion. Well along what i thought to be hopeless searches trying to get my 480 working i learned about Parallels and then THIS, https://www.youtube....h?v=FGPIwbdALHE Rosetta being installed to Lion... til 10.7.4 update broke it. After asking that guy how he managed such an impossible feat, i was told about an alternative called Parallels, and I'm told low res apps will run full screen. coming from windows this sounds like witch craft at first. my best guess is, IF this is true is that VM forwards the guest's resolution the host and host runs the same resolution so the monitor can stretch the image. at least that's my theory perhaps you know how it really works/is able to go full screen assuming that's true. Well isn't that all mouth full? Now what aobut SL vs Lion VS Mt Lion? Well this is all getting to be a lot of information and learning, the rabbit hole is getting deeper. So we know SL has PPC but, what makes it so different from Lion and Mt Lion, well i don't know for sure but, what I have gathered is that Lion and Mt Lion have long awaited newer versions of Open GL. Other than that Wiki lists off a bunch of usless stuff like email client improvements. So if maybe you know what the REAL improvements are, maybe you can explain them to me. Not only this but, i have read Mt Lion is 64 bit only. does this mean it it can't run 32 bit apps? Is this further loss of backwards compatibility? If it is does it matter can i run low res apps in SL in Parallels 8 in full screen? Sure Parallels 8 might rob me of some computing power but, does starcraft 1 and WC3 really need it? IF i'm just using it to learn programs so what if that program isn't as fast ot take a long to compile photos/videos? (assuming that maybe i run into editing programs as that is the most popular reason to need PPC) So basicly I'm wanting to leanr what maks the Lion OSXs so great and if i can safely upgrade to MtLion if i can run say Starcraft 1 in full screen in SL in Parallels 7 or 8? Also whats up with different Parallels version? From what i was reading each version performs faster but, i wonder if there is more to it and hoping maybe some one could explain. Cool but the rabbit hole is getting even deeper. What's is up with the different versions of Hackintosh and why do they exist? What makes TonyMac so great? Whats wrong with iAtkost with when it stream lines things? Legality? Compatibility? The only reason I mention this is because while trying to get my 480 working i found out they work a little differently when it comes to post installation editing and modification. Also making my brain go Quite a lot to read and and quite a few questions I know but, every time i end up googleing i end up with more questions and was hoping it could get some help and maybe help some one out who may have some of the same questions.
