bannejim
Hi, I have bought a new Gigabyte Nvidia Gt 640 OC. But my problem is that the graphic performance isn't great. I tried several things: 1. Change the smbios (switching to another model): MacPro3,1 ; MacPro4,1 ; MacPro5,1 2. Patching the AGPM GT 640 and AGPM unknownPlatform Fix. http://www.osx86.in/....ur-nvidia.html 3. deleting AppleUpstreamUserClient.kext 4. Installing the new Nvidia drivers The system is lagging when I maximize or minimize windows. Games (CS-GO) are running perfect. I've got a Core2Quad Q9400 on an Asus P5Q Pro with 8 GB RAM and a Samsung 830 128 GB SSD for the os. Thanks a lot Greetings BanneJim Edited May 27, 2013 by fantomas1 No direct link to tonymac!!! Mikoman
Hi, do you have cpu spikes when the lag occurs? (see activity monitor)
bannejim
Hi, the CPU use doesn't go above 12% . Do you think it is a problem with Speedstep? Greetings BanneJim
iFIRE
change smbios to iMac10,
bannejim
@iFIRE Because the iMac10,1 has a Core2Duo in it?
Taruga
Try deleting AppleGraphicsPowerManagement.kext and test it again.
bannejim
@Taruga Sorry, but I don't think that doesn't make sense because when I use the MacPro 3,1 smbios.plist the AGPM isn't used. Greetings BanneJim
Taruga
Check your GPU core speed, it must be running at half speed of so.... If that´s the case, then maybe only modding the AGPM can fix it
bannejim
Mh, I already modded my AGPM with this: <key>Vendor10deDevice0fc1</key> <dict> <key>BoostPState</key> <array> <integer>6</integer> <integer>13</integer> <integer>13</integer> <integer>6</integer> </array> <key>BoostTime</key> <array> <integer>1</integer> <integer>1</integer> <integer>1</integer> <integer>1</integer> </array> <key>Heuristic</key> <dict> <key>EnableEnergyPstate</key> <integer>1</integer> <key>EnergyPstate</key> <integer>5</integer> <key>ID</key> <integer>4</integer> </dict> <key>control-id</key> <integer>17</integer> </dict> This lines are for a Mac Book which uses a GT 650 M which is similar to my GT
Taruga
You should use iStat Menus or something like that to show you GPU Core Speed and check if it shows the same speed with games and on the desktop. I think your GPU when in desktop mode, is working with a lower gpu clock. I don't know much about AGPM plist settings but maybe your should try something like this: <integer>13</integer> <integer>13</integer> <integer>13</integer> <integer>13</integer> Just to check if GPU speed increases in desktop mode or not. I never bothered much with AGPM, I'm using a GTX 560 Ti and I noticed that my GPU works at half speed on desktop mode but sometimes with some load, it changes to full speed
