Acer Aspire One AOA150 ZG5 CPU Scales Down

Hi

I'm running 10.6.8 and on every version of OSX the CPU speed scales down from 1.6GHz to 800MHz when the AC power cord is unplugged and running on battery. This was confirmed by GeekBench. I'm pretty sure this is to do with Intel SpeedStep but there's no option in the BIOS to disable it. VoodooPowerMini, VoodooBattery and NullCPUPowerManagement are installed but the problem still remains.

Any ideas on how to resolve this issue?

Is something like CoolBook to set a fixed, specific CPU speed the only option?

Thanks

VoodooPowerMini - is a kext for Intel Enhanced Speedstep.

NullCPUPowerManagement - is a kext to disable the native (apple's) power management.

So in the configuration you have, the native power management is disabled by NullCPUPowerManagement.kext (read no speedstep whatsoever and CPU should run 100% its power all the time regardless of the load) and then VoodooPowerMini enables speedstep again.

Probably you should remove VoodooPowerMini if you need the CPU to work at max frequency all the time (even on battery). Or try setting the native power management to work (this feature greatly dependent on CPU and will only work with certain CPUs, that is CPUs that were/are used in Apple computers).

It would be a good idea for you to post the specs.

Thanks for the reply. My specs can be found here:

http://panam.acer.com/acerpanam/netbook/0000/Acer/aspireoneaoa150/aspireoneaoa150sp2.shtml

Processor: Intel Atom N270 1.6GHz

RAM: 1GB

HDD: 160GB

I shall try removing VoodooPower Mini and see if it makes a difference. Is there any kext available to stop SpeedStep from scaling down the CPU when running on battery? Otherwise, would something like CoolBook work?
