seltsam23
Hi there, I'm running my system on a SSD, for performance and silence -reasons. Additional there is one big storage HDD and one HDD for Timemachine. The thing is, both of the additional HDDs are running most of the time, but I don't wont them to. Sure, there is the "unmount" option for each harddrive, but shortly after unmounting and turning off, the HDD spins up again (of course without popping up in finder). This seems to be a problem for a lot of "real" MacUsers as well. I'm dying to find a solution for this. It must be possible to shut them down period. Do you have any idea? Some crazy terminal-related stuff? Thank you!
Rogiervd
System Preferences -> Energy Saver -> Put the hard drives to sleep when possible. Should fix it.
seltsam23
System Preferences -> Energy Saver -> Put the hard drives to sleep when possible. Should fix it. -> Run Spotlight, they spin up again. Or they just spin up randomly. I want to prevent exactly this.
Rogiervd
-> Run Spotlight, they spin up again. Or they just spin up randomly. I want to prevent exactly this. I can't test this but go to System Preferences -> Spotlight -> Click on the privacy tab -> Click the + button -> Then click the HDD you don't want spinning when spotlight starts. Well, I'm through with onboard-solutions. They just dont work good enaugh. I'm looking for a more reliable solution. Thank you anyway.
