Hi everyone and thanks for this very helpful guide.

I have a little problem and i need a little help too :D I have an HP 630 laptop, that support QE/CI acceleration (as seen in this guide) but i can't have a "full" acceleration.

System preference recognize the Intel HD graphics, but I can't open My Dvd player, and also i have some little bugs. I tried every possible configuration (VGA,alternative, dual link etc.etc.)Can anyone help me?

This is my dumper

P.S Sorry, for my very bad English.

I am using Dell L501X laptop that has maverics installed. Now, I am trying to install El Capitan. I prepared USB and booted to the installer screen. However, the trackpad, the keyboard and the USBs are not working. So not able to proceed with installation any further. Can anyone help?

Its work in my 10.10.1. every things seems ok. alternative + LW1 on Acer 4739

now i'm upgrade to 10.11.3, its seem not work anymore. Normal, Alternative1 or Alternative 2 give me apple boot bar stuck.

just one question. If on 10.10.1, I'm good with Alternative + LW1. is on 10.11.3 I must choose Alternative+LW1  too?

Did sleep worked on 4739, i'm also using this laptop as study purpose, also did u using AppleHDA or VoodooHDA???

Success on T410 with dual link display (1440x900). Used Clover bin patch - LW1 and "General patch" only!!! Working on 10.11.4 :3

Duplicate screen or clamshell ??

I can confirm that AppleHDA work with your laptop, but not sure about other things you said

Hi guys,

I successfully installed Yosemite 10.10.5 and have full graphics acceleration (QE/CI) on my Toshiba C660-11K (the one with Core i3-370M processor). It works stunning with 10.10.5, although, I had to inject graphics card into my DSDT (had gray screen all the time, thought its wrong FB unless tried Natit.kext lol)

Recently I tried to install El Capitan but failed to access the installer - I always get KP and I have AppleIntelHDGraphicsFB.kext removed. Tried PCIRootUID=0 and 1, nothing, also busratio=18. Any ideas?

1eb2PD5.jpg?1

EDIT: I used USB 3.0 drive, I will try USB 2.0 whenever I'll get it back -_-

  • If you get all garbled text and/or the message "Still waiting for root device" with the prohibited sign:
    • Try the install USB in every single USB port on your case, motherboard, add-on PCI card, USB hub, etc. and see if it gets farther on any of those
    • If you're using a USB3 stick, use a USB2 stick and try all USB ports again
    • Try booting with cpus=1

EDIT 2: I am so sorry for this off-topic I've just created, but maybe this will be helpful for someone + you can definitely add C660-11K to supported laptops!

Basically this problem occurs when computer loses connection to USB stick (Clover failed to inject my 5-series USB and, as a result, installation halted. I still tried my 3.0 stick, and found solution: you have to add USBInjectAll.kext (its here: https://github.com/RehabMan/OS-X-USB-Inject-All) to your Clover folder and thats pretty much it.

HI.. Sorry to dig up an old thread.. But I could really use your help. I have a dell studio 1749 that I'm trying to install yosemite on. With the intel HD gen 1 graphics. I have followed your guide.

I have also followed your tips above and removed the kest. Nothing has worked. i have confirmed that my laptop uses the LVDS connector so I should be good there. Its just getting past the install screen without a panic that is my issue. Do you have any tips for me to try? I am really not sure what is causing my install to panic like it does & reboot. I actually get into the install a lot of times and than panic on the install bar. I know its graphics but Im not sure what else i can try. Also I have gotten freezes on waiting for root device and panic right after dsmos has arrived but its not consistently the same spot that it panics, sometimes i get to the install and it starts and than it panics.

Here are my specs:

Dell studio 1749

2.26 core i3-350m

NO ATI or Nvidia graphics only intel

Display
Technology : TrueLife WLED 900p(standard)

Dell Wireless 1520

I've Bioster H55 HD with Clarkdale Processor Socket and 1156 Chipset. I already successfully installed El Capitan 10.11.4 on my PC, all driver works great with clover, the problem is gpu, I don't have any dedicated gpu, i just using internal Intel GMA HD on motherboard. Can anybody explain to me if this tutorial will work on my PC?

I'd successfully pathched the kext by Clover on-the-fly.

Machine Samsung R540 with Arrandale 0046, it needs Alternate 2 LW1 patch.

Also this is an example of all known patches for your AppleIntelHDGraphicsFB in one file for copy-paste.

It is very simple to configure your Intel Graphics using a list of similar Clover's config.plist files with different names (config1.plist, config2.plist, etc.) each of them differs with list of 7 needed patches for different platform configs. Just copy-paste needed ones from plist file. And load needed config from Clover's GUI.

Example for 1st step: add this combination of patches (for El Cap): 1 + 4 + 7 + 8 + 9 (or 10, or 11, or 12 for LW2 - LW4 variants) + 21 + 22 (LVDS + VGA). If needed, add a legacy for Alternate mode.

*** PS. Let me know, if there are some errors or lack of some patches (especially for Capitan).

Example 26 Patch AppleIntelHDGraphicsFB.plist.zip

Hello, to start, thanks very much to Ghostraider, and everyone else who's efforts have made this stuff work!

That said, I'm looking for some help in getting my system configured...

Model: Dell Inspiron 1764

CPU: Intel Core i5 430 M 2.26GHz

GPU: Intel Graphics Media Accelerator HD

RAM: 4GB

OS: Yosemite 10.10.1

Bootloader: Clover

Boot Args: dart=0 npci=0x3000 kext-dev-mode=1 GraphicsEnabler=Yes

Display is LVDS, native resolution is 1600x900.

OS is installed and apart from the graphics issue, is working correctly.

I followed GhostRaider's guide for LVDS.

I've patched my FB using Glofrida's Intel HD Graphics Patcher using the output of intel_reg_dumper under Ubuntu. None of the pre-patched FBs seemed to work.

If all 5 AppleIntelHD* kexts are installed, the system hangs on boot.

If just the FB is installed, the system boots correctly, and I get native resolution (1600x900). Though, I'm assuming that QE/CI is not enabled.

I'm using Kext Wizard to install kexts; "Rebuild Cache" and "Repair Permissions" can be selected independently. I only rebuild cache. Should I be repairing permissions also?

I've tried Natit, and it had no effect.

I'm not sure where to go from here, any assistance/advice/direction would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Got it working finally!

Underlying issue was that I needed to use an Alternative FB (Dual Link LW1) rather than the custom patched unmodified one I had.

Once again, many thanks to everyone that have made this possible!

I am able to bring up my Lenovo 560 with Yosemite 10.10 having i3-380M and Intel HD graphics in 1024x768 mode with procedure described here, big thanks. However, none of the framebuffer works - tried Normal, Alt, Alt2 (Single link)

LW1 - distorted screen

LW2 & LW3 - blank screen with changing coors

LW4 - white

I have check /Volume/<>/EFI/CLOVER/config.plist using clover configurator, I can see dev mode/rootless enabled in boot and only the patch vBios enabled in graphics.

I have also tried dual link though the native resolution is 1366x768 and it didn't work too.

Any idea what am I doing wrong.

Thanks

  • 2 weeks later...

Guys, I have a Lenovo T510i with 1366x768 resolution. So I'm supposed to use SingleLink version as per the help file. With 10.11.3, Alternate2, LW4 worked. With 10.11.4 Alternate2, LW4 does not work.

I checked my 10.11.3 FB info.plist and the plists in 10.11.4 for SingleLink, Alternate2 seem to match. I'm assuming because I'm using 10.11.4 instead of 10.11.3 does not change that.

Can someone please tell me if I'm supposed to brute force through ALL SingleLink versions? Is there a quick way around this? Right now I feel like I'll never succeed because no other info.plist matches what I'm using in 10.11.3 other than SingleLink, Alternate2. Now if someone can tell me info.plist contents are irrelevant and I have to try all of them, then I can do that, but good to know before I waste time.

@arcade33 - did you bruteforce your way through all FB kexts? I reused my 10.11.3 kext for 10.11.4, and it did boot and everything seemed okay, but QE/CI not really working.

Thanks in advance.

Greetings,

Just wanted to ask when someone would be kind enough to supply 10.11.5  Intel Graphics kexts. I'm especially waiting because the FB kext that gave me QE/CI for my T510i (1366x768) with 10.11.3 does not work with 10.11.4. SingleLink-->Alternate 2->LW1. I can boot to desktop and everything seems fine until I check the screen saver.

I have tried every other SingleLink FB kext 3 times already to know I'm not making a mistake. Few times I could get to desktop, but again, always QE/CI does not work. My only hope is that I upgrade to 10.11.5 and then try FB kext for 10.11.5.

It will also help if someone with a T510i could also let me know what FB kext they used for 10.11.4

Thanks in advance for your time and help.

I'm not sure why you're having a lot of problems.

When installing OS X for the first time or installing OS X updates, the installer will install the original Intel HD Graphics kexts in S/L/E folder. You must always delete these kexts using single user mode. If you don't then you will never boot to the desktop.

If you only delete the IntelHDGraphicsFB kext and not the other remaining kexts, then you will see distortion. You see this because OS X doesn't know how to show you the desktop. The framebuffer allows it to connect to the display and set proper settings for it to show a clear display.

Patched Intel HD Graphics kexts always must be installed in S/L/E folder. Never in Clover kext folders.

Clover settings can also create distortion. Do not have "inject intel" enabled. Also enable "patchVBIOS" so that clover can at least get your display to work in native resolution.

And of course, what FB to choose. For most people, either the SingleLink LW1 Normal or Alternate or Alternate 2 works. The only way to see which one is the correct framebuffer is to try them all. You install a framebuffer in the S/L/E folder and see if the computer boots. If it doesn't then you must remove the framebuffer in single user mode. Install another framebuffer and try it again. You repeat this process. Now, some computers do have a special problem. For example, my Gateway laptop cannot boot with any framebuffer unless i inject AAPL,OS-INFO into my DSDT. The old method is to install NATIT kext and it works. However keep in mind that this is only a temporary solution. You must fix your DSDT and inject OS-INFO if this is the case.

I believe all of this is covered in the guide.
