My Googlefu is lacking, so I was wondering, does anyone know of any way to make logitech wireless devices discoverable for generic bluetooth connection?

I hate using their dongle. It takes up a USB port that I want back.

AFAIK there are two types of wireless devices from Logitech:
  • connected via bluetooth
  • connected via USB dongle
The one that uses dongle IMO can't be connected via generic bluetooth, as a proprietary connection format (although I guess a bluetooth-based) is used. You probably could use an USB hub if you are short of free ports...
