Hey Bronya!

Is there any success with your kernel and nvidia kepler cards on applelife?

I tried it now a few times and everytime I use your kernel to install my nvidia kexts are empty! Thats really strange!
With an 10.7.4 installation, update to 10.7.5 and your rc8 kernel (arch=i386) my system boots to the point the windowserver should show up and then the system freezes!
I let it run for 20 minutes to look if something happens - nothing! Not even a white screen like it used to happen with 10.8.2!

I know you are not using nvidia yourself but in principle the card should work at least with 32bit as it used to run with 10.7.4 ok!

Unfortunately it is more like:
NVDAGK100Hal loaded successfully
Lnx2mac ethernet bla
And then it still does nothing!

Anyway without the nv kexts your Kernel runs great!

Hi, folks!

I just bought an AMD 5450 and i'm glad to inform this cheap little wonder works like a charm with 10.7.5, using one of Bronzovka's kernels (not the latest one) and booting in 64-bit kernel mode (arch=x86_64):

Attached File  Screen Shot 2013-03-08 at 12.44.30 AM.png   287.58KB   35 downloads
http://browser.prima...kbench2/1730679

The card, from Sapphire, has three ports: DVI-HDMI-VGA (from the closest to the motherboard to the less close). All outs work just fine, full QE/CI with a 40'' 1080p monitor. Only HDMI audio is still a pain in the OS (forgive-me the lousy pun), but that's not our kernel's fault.

Best regards!

P.S.: Now i can say ex-cathedra that this obsession with pure 64-bit kernel mode is rather futile: no perceived or measured performance gains other than a faster boot time over 32-bit mode with 64-bit support.

P.P.S:

Games are badly corrupted in 64-bit kernel mode, so i returned to 32-bit kernel mode with 64-bit support. To confirm my point about no difference in performance, this:

I am now running Lion i386, it works well!

Thanks extended to whoever built the kernel.

DVD player works just fine with 10.7.5 (32-bit mode) and the HD5450:

About the Bronya Kernel I have a question. When I start with i=386 instead of x86_64 my system works far away stabile.

What are the differences between arch=i386, arch=i386 -force64 or arch=x86_64

When I start my system with i386, as psychologically feel like my system works slower. Is it true?

Thanks for the kernel kamerad :)

I can boot the osx with arch=x86_64 and I get almost fully support of QE/CI without any glitches !!! :thumbsup_anim:

What I like about this kernel,
The boot is pretty fast !!!
It only takes 20-30 secs to get into the desktop
ML + AnV's kernel takes 90-120 secs

And it also allows me to play a movie with Mac's DVD Player in 64-bit mode

But I still found some issues and I think maybe it is due to the cpu detection

issue #1

with this kernel I can not boot the osx-10.7.5 in 32-bit ( arch=i386 with / without -force64 )
the boot will stop with a KP due to AppleEFIRuntime.kext

if I delete the kext, it manage to get to the desktop without QE/CI support :(

issue #2

with this kernel, I can not install or play the Neverball :D SOLVED ALREADY!!!

After mounting the dmg, all the icons are covered with forbidden signs

Posted Image

If I forcedly install it,
it will report an error which says that my AMD is detected as PowerPC :D sorry for the misinterpretation

Posted Image

If I forcedly run it (a pre-installed app on my ML partition), it instanty quits

Posted Image

with this report:

Spoiler

FYI, I can play the game with Sinetek's & AnV's 10.8.2 kernels under ML-10.8.3

issue #3

I still get the red-pixels issue when I try to run an OpenGL test using the CINEBENCH
which is the same issue I get with osx ML

http://www.insanelym...-as-red-pixels/

EDIT:

Sorry, I think I've misinterpreted the error

Neverball is an app for powerpc, which is no longer supported officially under osx Lion

But I still can play it with Lion-1075 + Bronzovka's RC8 kernel by installing the game manually, without Rosetta !!!

What did you mean by installing manually?

But isn't it a PPC-only software, which needs rosetta? :S

I didn't install the rosetta and the game still can run well

maybe the kernel has its own ppc interpreter

Under ML-1083, there's no forbidden sign over the icons and I can install the game directly via Finder

Perhaps the application isn't PPC at all, and that message was one of the annoying-as-a-tick OS version filters by apple...

YaPay ...

1) It's not a myth, it's a fact for all AMD users, specially if you have nVidia graphics;

2) You already asked if there's performance loss with i386 and i already answered: not at all! You can check this if you please just search in this topic: there are benchmarks done that will confirm what i'm saying, because i myself did the tests.

Why are you still pursuing this subject, and opening misleading topics that will result in nothing, if you can have and it's having all the answers you need in the appropriate topics (such as here)? C'mon, man! :D

All the best!
