rachalmers
I can not get sound to work in any way on my OSX Mountain Lion. These are the system specs. Toshiba Laptop. L630 8 GB RAM VM Workstation 9.0.1 Build 894247 (Hardware Compatibility Workstation 8.0 VM) VM Tools installed from the iso that came with the OSX image in the first place (Sysprobs) OSX 10.8 Mountain Lion. Full Retail, upgraded with recent patches and updated. Windows 8 Pro - 64 bit Everything else works, and works well. Sharing, networking, printing, CD/DVD etc etc. Just that nothing I try will make the sound show up. I have the VM Workstation set correctly. Checked it countless times. But, go into the OSX, Settings, Sound. No devices show up at all. So I am led to ask. Does anyone know how to get sound working on this combination please. Solved in this case: Resolution To change the audio device: Open the .vmx configuration file of the virtual machine using a text editor. For more information, see Tips for editing a .vmx file (1714) . Locate this entry in the .vmx file: sound.virtualDev = "hdaudio" Change this entry to: sound.virtualDev = "es1371" Save and close the .vmx file. Start the virtual machine.
