haydio
i would go for the first one because 200 mhz isnt mush but 1 gb extra ram is better.
Then there were none.
how would you reckon WoW or GW will play? on each one?
Then there were none.
does anyone know weather the mac mini will do sutibaly well for WoW- on mac os x, or guild wars through bootcamp?
non sequitur
some people have talked about wow on a mini, but i think that was on a ppc mini with a dedicated card. gw wil most likely not run well, and neither will wow, because of the GMA950. Then there were none.
i saw a video of a macbook 1.83ghz running guild wars, with 1250mb of ram, so if i got the 1.83ghz version it will run it like taht right. it should run faster than this shouldnt it: 2ghz first gen pentium 4 512mb ram 4ogb hard drive windows xp. rollcage
I would get the second one. Better to get the faster processor and the dvd burner now, you can upgrade the ram later if you want. it's not too hard to find some at a good price and you can sell the old ram, making it not too expensive to do. Then there were none.
either that, or since i have relatives in america i can get the mac mini 2gb 1.83ghz plus wireless kb and mouse for about 600 quid. but anyway i saw a youtube video of wow on a macbook 2ghz i think so, i belive the preformance should be on par or a little bit worse. Â I want to play wow in os x
RichardFanning
If you're looking for a gaming machine the Intel Mac Mini is not it. I have a 1.83ghz Core Duo with 512 and the performance is great overall, but the GMA900 graphics onboard wasn't designed for graphics intense applications . In comparison with the g4 mini's the Intel mini actually gets slower framerates in gaminng because of the GMA900 GPU. If you still decide to get the mini I would recommend the 1.66ghz model with 2gb of ram because OSX benefits greatly from extra ram and the minis are upgradable to the Merom Core 2 Duo processor (2.13ghz and up) which when prices drop will be a very affordable extreme performance boost. Then there were none.
I looked at apple.com and saw that i can get a base model 17" imac for 650 quid (us Store) wit 1gb ram and dedicated graphics, how does that run wow?
asap18
much better with the dedicated graphics card and more dedicated ram. But on my macbook 1.83 halo runs very well with 2 gig of ram
Then there were none.
well i think the imac 17" will do me, after all it will run WoW and guild wars wont it? Does anyone here know about WoW performance on intel imacs, the core duo 17" one, with 1gb ram. Guild wars will run.
Synaesthesia
No ways go for the IMac it will be much faster than the Mac Mini. Not only is it dedicated graphics like ATI Radeon X1600 and Geforce 7300 (which aren't the fastest, I know) but much better than GMA950, you're also getting a faster, desktop hardrive compared to the mini hardrive. And the computer is as small and silent and beautiful!
sandmanfvrga
Well if you weren't gaming, then I would go the lower end mac mini. $200 for hardly any speed increase and a dvd burner is sad. You can go to price watch and if you search, for around $50 you can get a usb 2.0 burner and add that to the mac. I think I will do that here soon. Then there were none.
Well ive definately decided that im going to get a 2.0ghz core 2 duo imac, base spec. it will run wow on full/medium with glow and death effect on so, thats what im gonna go for. sandmanfvrga
So your purchase is based on WOW pretty much? Cause if you want to upgrade latter on for more WOW or newer MMORPG's then you might want to look into a Mac Pro. I know it is high but if you lower the processor speed down some (still powerful with 4 64bit cores) then you can game for a LONG time. Plus you said base specs? 512 ram and WOW don't mix. I ran WOW on 1 gig and so many said 512 was bad especially the Mac version.
A Nonny Moose
Why not go for the iMac instead of the insanely expensive Mac Pro?
