I am really hoping that whoever wrote the entries on the wiki is still active and sees this post...

Following the instructions I have seen for 10.7 and 10.7.3 in the wiki and getting nowhere. If anyone has gotten this to work PLEASE give some detailed instructions. Theoretically this hardware should be working great but I can't even get a decent first boot going. When I follow exactly these steps, I get SNB framebuffer did not show up and still waiting for root device. Have tried several different variations on this, but not getting anywhere.

Hello ...

the problem is the Intel HD3000 chip ... the following works me for ML: in your installer USB /S/L/E folder make sure of the following:

- Delete all graphics kexts (NVD, ATI, IntelHD, ... etc) and leave only AppleIntelSNBGraphicsFB.kext

- Make sure of the latest FakeSMC version without any plugins.

- Ensure having the patched AppleACPIPlatform kext

- Optionally you can have MacBookPro 8,1 SMBios.plist on /Extra folder

this is supposed to enable you to install OSX to your HDD and then you can add the required kexts or DSDT modifications later.

P.S: I personally prefer Chameleon r2030 or above over Chimera on the installer .. but both should work.

Good hack

If I start with a 10.7.4 vanilla install from uni (wild animal), when that completes, I am able to do a normal boot (using USB as boot device).

If I then install Multi (wild animal) with ONLY the ##### option and the MBP 8.1 SMBIOS I am able to get a normal boot.

I start running into problems I think either after enabling sound (more likely) or network (less likely).

What I could really use is the EXACT kexts for 10.7.x that others seem to have used and gotten this laptop working (at least according to the wiki, wish people were forced to sign their wiki entries so you knew who they were).
