eric.mathison Posted September 21, 2012 Share Posted September 21, 2012 when i have just my SSD connected computer boots in 5 seconds not includeing bios post ect ect... but when i hook up my 500 gb hdd for my music and moves my boot time icreases to around 35 seconds. im wondering if anyone knows why BOOT LOADER: Chimera OSX VERSION: 10.8.2 SYSTEM DEF: IMac 12,2 MB: GA-H67MA-UD2H-B3 BIOS: F8 /w DSDT CPU: i5 2400 RAM: 12 GB GRAPHICS: Saphire 6850 SSD: Corsair Force Gt Sata 3 HDD: Segate Bargain Barrel Sata 2 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
3.14r2 Posted September 21, 2012 Share Posted September 21, 2012 It might be that the external HDD is not OK (check it with the manufacturer provided tools, just to be sure). BTW, what is the file system on the external HDD? IMO 5 or 35 sec. is not a huge difference, like between 5 sec. and 3 minutes for instance. I'd recommend checking it. You can also try to connect a different drive and see how it goes.
