when i have just my SSD connected computer boots in 5 seconds not includeing bios post ect ect... but when i hook up my 500 gb hdd for my music and moves my boot time icreases to around 35 seconds. im wondering if anyone knows why

It might be that the external HDD is not OK (check it with the manufacturer provided tools, just to be sure). BTW, what is the file system on the external HDD?
IMO 5 or 35 sec. is not a huge difference, like between 5 sec. and 3 minutes for instance.

yea smart is reporting good but good idea i will hook up my big 1.5tb instead when i get home from work and see what happens

so i tried 2 other drives and them same symptom when ssd drive is the only drive 4-5 second boot any other drive connected 30+ seconds its not a big deal cause i rarley power down just sleep but if there is a fix i wouldnt mind doing it
