IMO the image you've posted, is a CGI (computer generated image - rendering in other words)...
One of the cases I've seen/got my hand on, was ANTEC THREE-HUNDRED. Good option for a price IMO.

There is a post somewhere on here from someone who will reanodize G5 cases (or maybe he just sells ones he has already reanodized). He has different color options available as well. I cant remember if black is one of them, but if you search for it, you'll find it. I agree that I think the above photo is photoshopped - but I also think that you could get a black case in many different ways - from ghetto krylon to the aforesaid reanodizing.

I like the look of black, but if you go any way other than reanodizing - be very careful about scuffs and marks as they will show just as bad on black as they do on white. Maybe even worse.

Good luck!

That dark gunmetal grey looks really nice - Better than a full black in my opinion.

... but didja see the price? $125?!? WhoooaBoy! That is more than was spent on my two FUNCTIONING G5s with a 23" Cinema Display!

Actually there is a 3rd option that i have become quite good at. its non permanent and looks effective. vinyl wrap like the laptops i did in this section, one in white and one in wood grain. I am alot better at it these days and could probably do quite i nice job on it, theres a really nice matte black i have in at the moment. And its really cheap. I agree that re-anodising it would be best or powder coating. rattle can spray jobs are tricky and never quite as good, I do have a spray gun that might be neat with some car paint. lots of options really. i prefer the stealth look its more like the iphone 5.

That image is a really nice render, i wonder what it was done with. i want a vray engine again. i used to have 3ds max but my student trial ran out :(. its for the best, it doesnt work on osx.
