Hi. I need some assistance on this. I'm reaching out in hope for some guidance in installation or direct me to reliable source. Everything is stock from dell. Here are the specs:

Core 2 quad 9400
nvidia 9800gt
8 gig. Ddr2 ram
120 ssd

What I trying to do: install ML 10.8.1
methods: first tried uni beast 1.5.3
Problem: read kernel, loaded kext, but would not display setup GUI or screen. I have a feeling it's the 9800gt that's doing it.

Attempt to resolve - most posts about 9800 (solutions) are about 2 yrs old for SL. Tried to add nvidia string to boot.plist but still does not work. So far it wont display the installation GUI portion. Don't know how to resolve this video problem.

Another method - hard code nvidia string solution onto ML base system USB installation method with chimera has the boot loader. Still has the same issue.

So tempting to spend 300 bucks for updated parts and use uni beast and call it a day. Already spent 5 days trying resolve this.

But don't want to throw in the towel just yet. Can anyone assist?

Beast tools aren't supported here. Go to tonymac's forum for support with that, or use a different install method.
