takeawaydave
The AppleHDA provided didn't bring sound. I did installed it using Kext Wizard and then fix perms and rebuilt cache. I also swopped the dsdt.aml around with the new one provided. I could still boot in safe mode however still unable to boot with out "-x". Here is the output from boot. dmesg.txt
takeawaydave
ok booting now without safe mode removed /s/l/e/GeForce* (yes I know previous instructions given) Once booted no nw interfaces (only Bluetooth DUN) were available. i have retested the Atheros.zip Apple80211Networking.kext but no luck. No wireless appears (actually the only available interface BT DUN dissappeared). Also no ethernet interface was available.

takeawaydave
The install failed ! Rebooted and retried and failed again. Looks like a new cpopy of IONetworkingFamily.kext has been copied down. However Network preferences now crashes when trying to configure. I'll remove the kext. takeawaydave
iFire.... a summary so far... Networking Ethernet: Working and appears stable after installing following IONetworkingFamily.kext IOPlatformPluginFamily.kext RealtekRTL81xx.kext AppStore login ok iCloud login ok. Wireless: Surprisingly no change. Might start looking at doing this. Bluetooth: Bluetooth Dialup Networking available however when adding interface appears to break ethernet. Power Management: Battery: Battery icon was initially showing up however following install of FrescoUSBxHCI.kext it stopped functioning and the indicator just shows "x now. I have tried removing and reinstalling AppleSmartBatteryManager.kext but see the following in driver messages. AppleSmartBatteryManager:getBatteryBIF(0xE00002BC) failed Sleep: Machine sleeps. When it comes back online touch pad isn't active. USB BT adapter mouse (Logitech MX) is able to wake up machine. What further tests can be run for Power Management ? Sound: Sound still not there getting: Sound assertion in AppleHDACodecGeneric at line 360 Sound assertion in AppleHDACodecGeneric at line 360 Sound assertion in AppleHDACodecGeneric at line 360 Sound assertion in AppleHDACodecGeneric at line 360 Sound assertion in AppleHDADriver at line 1077 Sound assertion in AppleHDADriver at line 1052 Greyed out sound controls. USB 3: Installed FrescoUSBxHCI.kext and received black screen when rebooting. Rebooted into safe mode and removed. Ports appear to all function - if they are acting all USB2 rather than USB3 thats ok since I have no USB3 gizmo's. Voodoo kexts: Tried installing Voodoo kexts and only VoodooPS2 controller was loaded afterwards. What would be using this ? I have deinstalled since I don't yet see any real benefit. Please correct me if I am missing something (again). FakeSMC.kext I have not loaded this copy since it is version 4.0 and I am currently running 4.2 (from ######). Is there any reason I should be loading it ? THANKS SO FAR !!! BTW whilst I was writing this the Battery monitor icon started working again. Following reboot it is down again.... dmesg.txt

Any suggestions / links ? As for sound... I have been checking out this but unsure how to proceed when I need to "correct" the verb data. So far extracted the Pin Complex - any one able to correct or explain what needs correcting so I can proceed ? As far as I know there is no such disabling option for one or the other GPU. Never heard of any flashing to address this but if you have any links I'd be more than interested to read. Probably hold back from bios flashing myself since my laptop is actually work provided....
blackfire920
Dave, forcing bios is for my old benq s42 only, not the Samsung np550...
