I'm too having the same issue. However, I had this issue too when I installed Lion but I did resolve it but now, I cant remember. I'll try to find the Lion kext from my backup and try in Mountain Lion.

When i installed iaktos l2 the battery work good, but after i installed this packet N53S Mountain Lion GM Package - Updates SSDT
i have the x problem.
I think that it is dsdt problem, this is for n53s,i have n73sv.
But the rest work good

I have tried many solutions including those from kexts.com. Your solution finally gave me a working battery indicator. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

I discovered that if UseKernelCache flag is set to No the battery icon will work fine. The required kexts are:
- AppleACPIPlatform
- AppleACPIBatteryManager
- AppleSmartBatteryManager
