I have an HP m7757c MediaCenter. with 10.6.8 installed. It worked very well for about a month and then it suddenly began to have problems. When I checked the BIOS I found that my settings were going back to the default. The date would stay set but the SATA controller kept changing to RAID no matter how often I reset it to ACPI.
I have replaced the CMOS battery twice now and the problem persists. Any ideas what would cause this?

Look up elliotforcelegacyrtc or how to patch applertc to prevent cmos resets.
Pre-patched kexts can be found with a little reasearch.

(not sure if this works on Snow though, back up AppleRTC.kext before running the perl script so you can restore it if it doesn't.)
