I'm still hoping a chameleon-fix for this acpi thing. This rollback workaround is not very vanilla. I'm not using any rollback kexts... And I don't want to. :/

Is there some release date already set for the 10.8.2 update?

Thank you!

Folks must stay cool. There is plenty of time for this issues to be solved by the tech gurus of the hackintosh community.

Yep, but to be honest: Its already and long time really magic that most users here dont need any patches to run OS X.
If Apple had programmed much closer to real mac (efi, firmware, chipset), we would have needed such patches much earlier.
Maybe there is an workaround (for some mainboard/chipset/bios with ACPI KPs) but if not - no real problem is patches works or as other said buy real mac.

at the same time, the hardware has also evolved and OS X has followed this evolution. So this can be a part of this ease too !

but, this is not because the dev aren't longer present on the forum like by the past, that they aren't longer active. :)

All we can hope is that Apple continues to upgrade its OS X at the same time as our hardware and leaves the chance to the hackintosh comunity to know and understand how OS works on our machines, it will only motivate us to give up definitely the Windows world and return to the OS X.

first we need to identify what changed in the appleacpi binary then see if that can be ported somehow to chameleon acpi patching ?

In newer chameleon builds i have seen some new option key like

Acpi2Method

// 2 (= method 2) for some machines that may hang on acpi 2 (aka acpi 64 bit) detection (replace the old kUnsafeACPI "UnsafeACPI")

Perhaps some chameleon dev can tell use about that or whats that for (perhaps for other probs / non dsdt first boots...) , comment above speaks of hang and not KP by acpi.

@ starobrno1

Apple's updates aren't like Microsoft's updates ! :)

So, yes, even if we have (some of us) a stable OS on our configs, we need their updates ! ;)

And yes, sometimes it's just out of curiosity ! :D
