Sleep requirements

Hi,

I'm just wondering if you need to have proper graphics drivers and/or QE/CI in order for sleep to work. As I am running a GMA4500, there's no QE/CI for me and since sleep doesn't seem to work, I'm wondering if the issues are linked somehow.

When I attempt to display sleep, my screen just freezes at the point and it doesn't go off. When I power sleep, the screen freezes and isn't able to wake up. I've attempted this with multiple sleepenabler kexts and the same thing happens.

So is graphics acceleration required for sleep to work?

Thanks

I have successfully installed a 4500 kext after some dsdt editing, and now display sleep works properly. Actual sleep doesn't work yet, but that's probably just some issues with SleepEnabler.kext (what happens is that I click sleep, then the screen goes off and doesn't actually sleep, it just stays on and doesn't go into low power state. Then it freezes then I can't get back in, have to force off).

Kernel.log doesn't seem to have any events related to the actual sleeping, and only has stuff about the loading of the kext (the normal stuff like "Enabling... if it screws up, use pmVersion=0, etc).

In the "All" section, there appears to have... nothing. Literally. It just has a blank section from between when stuff is working, then I press sleep and it stops logging. Then the next thing in the log is the next bootup. Once I load back into my hackintosh, I'll post a screenshot and maybe someone who's solved this will see this ><

I just tested it without sleepenabler (removed, ran KextUtility), and pretty much the same thing happens: I sleep, screen goes off, fans go off, no hdd activity, but the 'power' is still on and the power light doesn't go into sleep mode and it doesn't pulse, and I can't turn it 'back on' and need to force off.
